Is there something in the water in Texas?....

I don't know if there is any case law... we didn't have this issue with people carrying long guns into restaurants until recently.

Funny you screaming at me, but the Open Carry Texas posting says that they aren't real sure on it and have asked for the AG to review it.

So, you don't have a case. Were you aware there was no basis for your position, or were you hoping none of the Jim Bob/ Joe Bob hicks would notice?

Since the four groups posted the long gun procedures, how many members brought long guns into a corporate business without permission, were then asked to leave and refused?

Is the video of the group at Chili's before or after the announcement? I believe it was after.... They left, but they shouldn't have been there in the first place.

Clearly Kory Watkins is still pushing the envelope by carrying a black powder pistol at Sonic and Target and then posting it on the Open Carry Tarrant County facebook page. This was on July 2, so that was afterwards OCT has asked members not to carry in corporate businesses, and after Target asked as well.

You have suggested that intimidation of enemies is wrong. Is your gun jewelry? Do you actually understand that some people consider their rights to be important, all rights? You would relegate the 2nd Amendment less important than a seat on a bus? Apparently so. Pity you even represent yourself as a free man, sad.

Rosa Parks was being discriminated against because of the color of her skin. Carrying a firearm is a choice, she could not choose the color of her skin.

I didn't suggest that intimidation of enemies is wrong... I suggested that the carrying of an open firearm by a civilian to intimidate the general public is wrong. I don't compare civilian carry to military carry. Open carry by the military is a show of force, just the same as putting an aircraft carrier off the coast of a foreign country. It is a wartime footing. Are you in wartime footing when you go get a cup of coffee at Starbucks?

What is this person accomplishing?

There is a basis, as the TABC has told Open Carry Texas that the sign applies to ALL unlicensed carry.

Same thing at the Fort Worth Convention center. Nobody has said F you and pushed it to the point of an arrest that I am aware of.

I guess if someone felt as committed to their right to carry openly as Rosa Parks felt about her civil rights, we would have a test case, now wouldn't we?

Excuse me, you seemed to be hard of hearing....

Hope I didn't intimidate you.

Actually, you have nearly convinced me to join your cause. Who needs a gun anyway, much less one I can get to quickly...

Oh yeah, none of this is at all related, we're talking about getting a politician elected and lining a lawyers pocket aren't we....

So then, out of the thousands of members of these four groups you're not sure of any long gun instance, maybe one, since the long guns procedures was posted, yet you declare how unfortunate it is that the members are not following what the leadership has requested in the long guns procedures list? Why make such a remark? Sure sounds like you're just digging for something negative to say.

No, it was easy for you to characterize me as someone who would carry to intimidate the general populace. That would be a crime, and it would violate my principles anyway, along with my oath.

You may not compare the military experience of carrying a weapon to civilian life, but the firearm can induce fear in an adversary or comfort in one being protected.
I'm curious, why do you carry a firearm? Would you prefer to wait until you were forced to shoot or would it be conceivable that the situation might not even arise if the predator knew you were armed.

That is the real reason for open carry, to create a deterrent. Except of course at a barbeque in the suburbs of Dallas...

And by the way, Parks wasn't about the color of her skin, she was about the denial of God given rights.

Phil, they should have never started going into private businesses in the first place. They should have changed tactics the first time it hit the media. But no, CJ Grisham gave a big F You to Texans, saying if you don't like it, too bad. Then, when the negative public image came crashing down on his head, he decided he better change direction... the damage had already been done.

Why did it take so long for them to change direction? Why wasn't the negative publicity and fallout from Starbuck's enough? They just posted their new rules about a month ago...

Oh, and you need a recent example... Open Carry Tarrant County met up for their "walk" yesterday in the parking lot of Lowe's. Quoted from their facebook page...

Kory Watkins Just did not what the antis harassing so I did not name anything. Park in the area and you will see everyone at Lowes or on the sidewalk with a flag

He didn't want to mention that the rally point was Lowe's... I wonder why not? They held a rally in Lowe's parking lot last month, and Lowe's did not make them leave, but they did state that they would not approve of them using their property in the future...

Hell fire boys,

Let's jest all of us lock arms and comb the brush till we find an answer to all this...

Oh, oh, call off the search....When the legislature passes open carry and the governor signs it,

This will all be jest a memory....

What with a bunch of y'all pudd-nockers being added to the ignore lists of several forum members. ;):D

Y'all know, them boys with them rifles ain't gonna give up...

They're Texans,

Sorry, Cypher. To begin with Kory isn't a member of the four groups, and even if he was it didn't meet the criteria. Bonk.

I carry to protect myself and my family. Concealed carry meets that need for me.

Is open carry an effective deterrent? I have seen the stories about the waffle house robbery, and how the scout left the store and they were waiting for the open carry patrons to leave. They didn't abandon their idea of robbery, just delayed it a bit. What if there was only one OC patron? Would they still have waited? I don't know, and neither do you... we could what if it all day.

As far as the Rosa Parks and gun rights comparison, try telling it to the average black man... Civil rights leaders disagree with you.

You sure about that? Talk about double talk...

Quoted from Point Person: Our Q&A with CJ Grisham, founder of Open Carry Texas | Dallas Morning News

Media reports have noted that Open Carry Texas and its Tarrant County branch parted ways over philosophical differences. What happened and why?

We didn't part ways. We just clarified that we are separate organizations. The relationship between Open Carry Texas and Open Carry Tarrant County is no different from our relationship with the NRA. We all have similar goals, just as separate organizations with separate missions.

Yet Tarrant County is still listed as a branch on the OCT website...

And he changed from long gun to black powder revolver... big whoop... Target doesn't want it in there, yet he continues.

Do you think the general public knows the difference between the 4 groups and other fringe groups? Or even cares?

Bonk #2, Cypher.

If there really are a lot of members of those four groups not following the outline, there should be tons of examples for you to share that I asked for.

It hasn't been even been a full month yet. Give it time... someone will oblige shortly...

Bonk #3. May 23.

But I'll give it ya it hasn't been that long. Still, why so negative on everything and wanting an issue? Seems like those doomsayers who are disappointed when the asteroid doesn't collide with Earth.

Phil, if you had a group question your loyalty to your country and and your service just because you disagree with their tactics, would you be very supportive of them?

I'm here, I've had discussions with their members both personally and on Facebook... they just do not handle themselves in a professional, positive manner. They are extremists, just as the Bloomberg moms are. They do not want debate, they want it their way or no way.

I'm done with this topic. If OC passes here in Texas, it will be in spite of these groups, not because of them.

Enjoy the resto of your weekend.
