Is there such a thing as a 9mm pocket pistol

Work type jeans and a cm9 but Columbia has several "trail" pants that also have larger pockets that work very well. I have carried a snubby or cm9 working construction since '88 90% of the time. Now retired , its 90% iwb twith a cm9 for pocket back up from time to time.

I have tried a bunch of 9mm's for pocket carry. None have fit the bill to my satisfaction. I love my Shield but it doesn't work either. Recently got a Glock 42. It goes great in my pocket and has a great trigger and very accurate for a pocket gun. It is my edc in my pocket and I really like it

I carry a DB9 in my front pocket daily. I did the $12. buck repair, Take a PF9 magazine spring, cut off two rungs, insert in DB9 magazine and voila, it works ALL the time with HST.
I have a Sig P290 in .380 but my wife grabbed it and dared me to take it.
I have ordered a p290 in 9mm so I have two pocket pistols. I also have 3 different 38 snubbies and do sometimes carry my J Frame in an ankle holster.
Can the Shield be a pocket pistil, heck yes, but get a pocket holster and wear pants with proper pockets.

While I typically pocket carry a 642, I recently developed a yen for a semi. I found that the Ruger LC9 fit as nicely as the 642 and printed less. I was on the verge of buying one when I decided to take a range rental for a test drive. I managed to eject the magazine at least once before it was empty each time I shot it. Stayed with the 642, which has never done this.

But yes, I think there is at least one pocket 9.

IMO. Ruger LC9 or there new LC9s. It's a safe light 9mm and fit's in my pocket well! The newer S ver. has a much shorter crisp trigger that is striker fired. Older non s has a longer but smooth D/A trigger that is hammer fired but still breaks clean and smooth. Both have a manual 1911 type frame mounted saftey if you want to use it. The wife and I each have one. Both have been 100% in every way.We both have no issue with shooting them well and we have the Older non S ver. with No - in the ser. number.. Offer smoother D/A trigger pulls if you opt for the hammer ver. The much older early ones with a - in the ser. number have a much longer heaver hammer fired trigger pull.. A new one made this year or last and you should have a good one for the older No" - "ser number ver... George

S&W J Frame

Sorry for the thread drift. I know Cajunlawyer is looking for a pocket carry 9mm, but I wanted to put my .02 cents in for the J frame snubs. They are easy to pocket, especially the "hammerless" and shrouded versions, and they pack a big wallop in .357. My choice is the Md 649-3 that I've had and pocket carried for 16 years. It also makes a really nice jacket pocket choice. I have a Levis denim jacket that has really nice inside side pockets that work perfectly for me. Yes, it is a bit heavy but after 16 years of knowing nothing else regarding pocket carry, it feels just fine.

The Rohrbaugh R9

Unfortunately Remington got their mits on them, and I have no faith in Remington.

What about the single stack 9mm Glock?

I should be out anytime now.

Just sayin'

Right now my pocket pistol is an M&P380. Would like a 9 but everyone I've tried is too big for pocket carry and if one is going to use belt carry one just as soon go full size in my opinion. Or are the current crop of small 9's about the limit?

A 9mm that is worth owning will never replace your 380 as a pocket gun.

I owned a Khar with was decent in the pocket but jamed.

I owned a Nano but it also gave me issues jamming.

Last but not least I purchased a Shield 9mm and it has been more reliable than the other 2 I bought and dumped but it is also the heaviest tipping the scale at 24 oz.

I believe there are tradeoffs. If you drastically cut the weight like the Diamond Back in 9mm you loose mass in areas I am not comfortable shaving like the slide.

The Diamond Back in my opinion is too thin in the slide.

I pocket carry a Glock 26, in an Alabama pocket holster, in the summer, while wearing cargo shorts. The rest of the year IWB. Seems like a Shield would be easy to hide in cargo pants or cargo shorts.

I carry my Shield this way a lot of the time.

My suggestion is to find a smallish handgun that suits you. Find a type of carry that suits you, i.e. pocket, ankle, shoulder holster, IWB or OWB. Start changing your wardrobe to accommodate said handgun and method of carry.

The Shield is a bit heavy for pocket carry but it works fine with a good belt and pleated Dockers or cargo shorts. I'm currently using a Sticky Holster.

For jeans I prefer diamond gusset brand.Deep pockets I carry a j frame or kahr pm9 easily.Since my employer prefers glocks I switched to glock 42 this summer. But the pm9 has always been easy to conceal.I do check the size of pockets of any pants before buy them.
