Is this everything a cop needs?

It used to be possible to go to the bank and get a roll of quarters that were shrink-wrapped. I carried it for phone calls, and parking meters, and cans of pop, and,uh, stuff.

I carried a keystone cop looking hardwood stick in the Marine Corps when on guard duty when put in a post as a visual guard to keep drunks from the enlisted club away from the gun park @ Las Pulgas/ Camp Pendleton. We used them to bat rocks all night and one of my fellow guards ignorantly killed a bull snake with his-that was the closest to bad guy adjustment ours got.
Funny, anybody remember the song by Hank Williams Jr called "Attitude Adjustment"? It has some "stick" sentiments in it's lyrics......

She called the cops to take me in
And I said "You'll never do it , Friend".
And they just smiled and said "Oh yes we will!".
Now sticks to the head and kicks to the shin
And several bites by Rin Tin Tin
And I couldn't wait to get into that jail.
It was an attitude adjustment, Oh I went along peacefully
Attitude adjustment, They made me clearly see
So my head is black and my legs are blue
And both knee caps are bit clean through
It was an attitude adjustment
Made my whole life look brand new.

alright, all you coppers who remember when having a bubblegum machine on top and a kojack light on the dash was the cutting edge of emergency light technology.....
who carried brass knuckles????? This is a Garrity question.......(hahaha)

I still own a set of brass knucks. They make an awesome paperweight.

This is the best thread I ever started. Thank you LE guys for the stories and pictures of your equipment from back in the day.

I want you to know that I appreciate your professionalism, dedication to a dangerous job and being there around-the-clock to keep us safe.

God bless you all.

Gail

Kind words Miss Gail, and I appreciate them, as do we all....

I truly do love what I do....I still love to go to work every day..

I kept a pair of brass knuckles in my pocket under my wallet...never came close to using them....they made a better paperweight, and wore out my uniform pants pockets is all...

I recall a new officer arriving at the station house in Detroit. He had a small blackjack matching the one in the photo. The old-timers told he to return to the uniform store and exchange the door knocker for a blackjack.

Boy the memories. We had to buy our own revolvers when I started in '72. I bought a M67 that I still own today. Love that gun. I also still have a S&W slapjack sitting on my desk as I type this. Seems like anything that is effective for ending a fight get the kibash. They are trying to get Tazers taken away as a tool now. I have to agree about the Ambassador were very fast but did not hold up well. We use to have a riot almost every New Years Eve on Ft. Lauderdale beach. I had an old Plymouth and was transporting prisoners I managed to stuff 8 in the backseat. Those were the days.
