Is this gun worth this much?

Well, he bumped his "buy now" price to $1895. Scratch my "adjusting accordingly" observation.

Must be pie in the sky or not sincerely trying to sell but instead gauge what the market will bear by fishing highest bids.

I had a guy want to swap me one for my Ruger Super Redhawk 44mag Leopold scope 300rds speedloaders etc. and I pay him $300. So yeah some people think they are worth $1500 or more. I feel like they are $600-700 max if really nice. But that is just my thoughts.

There is one more option, you can buy a ugly beat gun for the best price possible and send it back to SW and let them do the factory magic on it. You will likely end up with just what you want.

They made more than one.
I see plenty of nice model 19s at local gun shows tagged for between $500-600, box or no. Just saw a beautiful 2 1/2 RB model 66 last week for $495. 'Course I wasn't looking to buy... if I were they'd a been asking $1500!

"Buy now" price now $1995; starting price now $1395 (up from $.01 earlier today and hundreds more than the highest bid last time listed); zero current bids.

Gun show tables are filled with these "deals", as are firearms auction sites. I guess there's not much space eaten up with unsellable inventory, so it doesn't matter how long an overpriced gun sits.

You would think Gunbroker would wise up and forbid unreasonable auctions, or at least not permit constant re-listing.

I hear S&W will soon make bridges for sale, too, and take orders paid in full in advance. :)

I'm not sure what part of Alabama you are in, but if you are anywhere near north Alabama you might want to visit Larry's in Huntsville . They have probably the largest selection of used handguns in the state of Alabama . Also , you might want to attend gun shows . They usually have a couple per year in Birmingham, Huntsville, Mobile, etc.
Their is no need to overpay for a model 19 by limiting yourself to buying online , unless you just want to.

I don't know if GB's fee structure is anything like eBay when you list an item, or if even eBay is still doing it the same way since I haven't sold there for years... but an auction "insertion fee" was charged based on the listed item starting price.

I used to chuckle seeing items listed on eBay for $5.00 with a $100.00 shipping charge.

GB probably doesn't give a hoot about what a seller prices things at or how many times they relist the same overpriced item, if they are getting a fee off of the listing just being posted.

To the OP... be patient, something reasonable will come your way eventually... and keeping an eye out in the classifieds section here or posting a WTB are great bets, and I can say with utmost confidence, this forum has got to be one of the safest venues for buying "stuff" when it comes to the honesty and integrity of it's members.

Welcome to the forum.

If you want a comparison. I purchased a very nice 19-4 4" with box for $695.00 on Nov 12th 2013 with a box and thought I might have over paid. Maybe two of my puchases will show you how over priced that gun is.

I also purchased a 19-5 2.5" for $505.00 on GB in shooter condition on Oct. 27th 2013.

Edit: Corrected photos. And of course the gun did not not come with the Grashorn grips. It came wearing Plain Clothes grips.

Trolley, that appears to be a M36 snub...you got the bug alright, you already can't keep track of 'em.....:)

To the OP: the advice in this thread is golden. Take your time and you'll get what you want at a reasonable price. S&W fever can be tough to fight, but patience usually pays a handsome reward. Good Luck!

Thanks...I'll run up to the safe and get the correct gun. :)
