It is Patridge NOT Partridge.

So often we see people calling a "patridge" front sight a "partridge" front sight. I thought some pictures might clear things up:

Oh, I see. So at Christmas time, we need to be singing about a Patridge in a pear tree?
 
So, are you saying that David Cassidy and Danny Bonaduce had NOTHING to do with the design of the front sight of my K-38?

I feel let down, somehow. Maybe sometimes it's better to remain in blissful ignorance.
 
I've known the difference for many years, but it is wonderful to see it explained so well! :)

Hey: is the real partridge shown above a ruffed grouse? I know that a partridge is also sometimes a gray partridge, and that chukars are partridges.

S&WChad, techincally that bird is not a partridge, that is a ruffed grouse.
 
Apparently the confusion is universal.....
