It must have been radioactive . . . so I shot it with a Canon!

Actually, the challenge in ID'ing a female is simply SEEING one. They are secretive and surely don't look like much . . . simply a plain old brown bird.

An amazing shot! Great bokeh fore and aft. Thanks for the detailed specs.

I looked at the photo the other day and thought to myself, "Never seen one around here." Darned if I didn't look out the kitchen window this morning and there were two of them on my bird feeders. They spent more time trying to chase each other off than they did feeding.

Apologies for my photography...

But I thought you should know....Indigo Buntings really enjoy a nice bath, too!

Sorry folks - I don't care what color they are, they all dump on my clean car & therefore need to be banished to....well, somewhere were I'm not!

Now, if they dump on my bike - it's warfare!

Incredible photo of what is one of my top three favorite birds. We don't see them around here, and I miss them.

The shot is superb!

We used to see them in PeeWee valley when we lived there. I'm surprised you haven't seen any.
A little interesting fact about the bunting is that it is actually black! It's feathers just reflect that iridescent blue.

Very nice, but to be an expert bird photographer, you must capture the illusive St. Vincent parrot.... ;-)

I know...it's kinda' an obscure joke, but I used to have a RadioShack store down there and the tour guides would always talk about them. Now it's a favorite inside joke between my wife and I whenever we see bird pictures.

After many years living in the Hikes Point area of Louisville, I now live in scenic North Shively. ;) No indigos to be seen here, I'm afraid.
