Add more oilive oil do it yourself what you like. The Kraft zesty italian salad dressing and red wine vinegar is a start. Add oregano, black pepper, hot roasted peppers, sweet roasted peppers what ever you want, enjoy.

Go fo the justo.

Subway I say where’s the meat? There sub in person never matches the one on tv. My favorite deli went out of business so now I make my own.

Reading all this made me want to run out and try the new taco place. “Gourmet” tacos. Brisket, Cuban with pulled pork, bulgogi. Left me wanting a good al pastor or carnitas taco. Or banh mi. Decent Italian sub around here? Fuhgeddaboutit.

Okay, I found it. Can somebody please look at this menu and tell me which is the authentic one, the Italian Sub or the Baked Italian Sub further down the list? I can get the Italian Sub toasted. The baked one doesn't have mayo. They charge extra for black olives. Here's the link:
Bad Request
I would go with the baked, I wouldnt want mayo.

Deli and sandwich shops vary when it comes to grinders and taste. Here’s a simple way to make them.

Cold cuts to your liking.
Rolls, grinders, to your liking.

Example.

Take a loaf of italian bread cut it down the middle from the side. Let the top hinge open. Scoop out the bread inside the top and bottom. Just what you can pull out with your hand. Don’t need all that bread.

Then spread your favorite mayo top and bottom.

Next I cover top and bottom with provolone cheese. I over lap the cheese by 1/4 to 1/3 each slice till the bread is covered,

Next I take sliced pepperoni and layer it by over lapping each row by 1/2 a slice. You can put a little extra,
.
Then it’s sliced lettuce, sliced tomato, black pepper, oregano, black olives, onions(optional),
I use this combination for salads too.
I use Kraft zesty italian dressing. Then I use Regina red wine vinegar. Sprinkle to taste.

You can use any kind of cold cuts.

A little messy in your deer stand for that I like pocket roast beef sandwiches. One hand eats.

You missed the Prosicuto and Capocoli

Local BX here on Nellis uses excellent breads and Boar's Head meats.

They make succulent paninis, a real fave of mine on lunch break.

Also a chain in town called Capriottis that have a killer cheesteak. Best I've had and pairs nicely with a weekend Vegas bender.

Something I'm working on tonight.
Make enough dough for a loaf of Italian or French bread. While its rising (double),
dice a bunch of ham, hard salami and cheese.Roll the dough out the size of a really big pizza.Cover it with the diced goods and roll it up.Cover it and let it double again.Give it an egg wash and bake at 420 for 30 minutes

Me and my italian co worker went to the italian deli and purchased two large loaves of italian bread and had them make two large grinders. One meatball and one pepperoni. We ate both of them in front of on lookers.
They never seen grinders that big. After a few trips to this deli the company caught on and started ordering food for meetings from the deli.
Good food spreads the word.

I always told them I work like two people I eat like two people.

Last real Italian sandwiches that I can
remember liking were from the early
1970s. Got them from Rose's Sandwich
Shop in Chicago. They dripped with
olive oil and oregano and stuffed with
sausage meats.

The shop became famous when
Richard (Richard Scalzetti) Cain
was murdered there during lunch
hour by the Outfit or so it was
suspected.

It's called a......

Guys, I'm going to order that at Subway next time I go. Is it the Italian BMT? Do I ask for vinegar and olive oil, no mayo?

It's called the 'Spicy Italian' You can ask for any extras. I usually ask for oil and vinegar and a little salt and pepper I like mine with a little lettuce since I don't eat onions/tomatoes. I can't remember if Provolone is 'standard' but that's what I get. They have about five kinds of bread. One has Italian herbs, but I usually get Italian bread.

They'll put mustard and mayo on if you ask for it. Sometime I have them sprinkle some black olives on to dress it up. Now I'm about ready to get up and go to subway.

The Spicy Italian has pepperoni and salami. The BMT is ham, pepperoni, and salami. Cheese, veggies, and dressings are your choice.

Cheese at Subway

sliced processed American, provolone, pepper jack, Swiss and cheddar cheese. Subway also offers a shredded Monterey blend.

Yeah, Ketchup and Mayo on a Spicy is weird. But what the hey? There's no such thing as weird in cooking. If it tastes awful, it's called a 'delicacy'.

I like mayo on my grinder. I do put ketchup on hotdogs when I eat them plain I add hot sauce too. Great mix for dipping hotdogs.

Mix ketchup and mayo add a tad of green relish it’s thousand island dressing, good on pastrami rubin

Every region has its own version of sandwiches. Here in Louisiana, we have po-boys. They do put mayo on most. The roast beef is popular as are seafood such as Fried Catfish or Fried Shrimp. The roast beef is sliced thin and cooked in gravy. You do not have a great po-boy if the gravy is not running down your arm.
