Last January while doing some volunteer forestry work for the forest preserve district I took a medium sized branch hit to the right side of the head. Did not damage my chainsaw helmet but it really rang my bell good. I'd never taken a hit so hard. I shook it off and continued cutting. Near the end of April I caught a pretty good cold and noticed when I would cough it felt like the top of my head was going to blow off. Went to the Dr. and they started to treat it like it was a sinus infection. Two courses of antibiotics later no change, by this time it's May and the Dr. says go get a CT scan. The morning after the scan the office calls and tells me to immediately report to the hospital as I have a subdural hematoma that needs surgery. So a week ago they put me under and opened my skull and removed the offending structure. The hematoma was forcing my right brain over into the left brain. Neurosurgeon says it was going to kill me soon.
So now I've got a shaved head and some slight neuro issues that are going to put me on one of the trikes for a while. But boy oh boy is it good to be alive.

Look on the bright side, you can carry a waaayyyyy bigger gun on one of those trikes!

Seriously, hope you are doing well and recover fully.

Scary stuff. Glad they caught it in time my friend.
Sorry about my ignorance, but what is the reference
to being on a trike for awhile ?

glad to hear that your condition was discovered and you are on the mends. next time , get checked out right away.

Glad they caught it. You don't even have to leave the house. I tripped coming in from the garage awhile back and fell into the doorjam. A couple months or so later I could hardly drive. Doc said I had torn a rotor cuff. All seems well now, a couple years later, but it could of been a lot worse. Don't hurry your recovery, it may take some time. Best of luck, and GOD BLESS. :)

Prayer from Texas for your complete recovery. As lucky as you were, a lottery ticket might be a good idea. :D

HIT BY BRANCH

tree work is for sure dangerous. it finally and permanently caught up with someone I knew. very often Doc's, while looking for/ treating one thing end up finding something else much worse. sometimes an accident or minor surgery can be a blessing in the larger picture of things. good luck for a speedy and full recovery, don't rush it and don't strain doing anything. be very careful with safety and falls. one of my toughest cases was a guy with a sdh, I had to tell him and his family they had a few minutes, maybe, to talk for the last time and there was not a thing we could do.

goes to show you no good deed goes unpunished.:)i hope that the forest preserve district is helping you some.

Prayers for speedy recovery & thanks for your health.

I just dodged a bullet myself and am grateful to be watching my 10 yo son play his xbox right now!
