When I let my chickens out of the coop this morning at 29 degrees, they were cussing at me...buck, buck, buck....and their water pan was frozen. I probably deserved it.
And here in the bootheel of Missouri, where we often get all four seasons in the same week, it was 20 degrees yesterday, will be 64 degrees today, and 17 degrees with ice in the morning . . .
Same here in Louisville, Muss. We're under a tornado watch for another hour and a half, and having a thunderstorm at the moment. Mid-freaking-December.
We got to 66 degrees this afternoon. Snow and ice warning by morning.
I'm waiting for the norther to come howling in tonight. The southeaster has been blowin to beat the band for three days - 20 knots - and it's about to all come back down on us at once. Ya hoo.80 today, 35 tonight.
We were down to 3* F this morning. Today was supposed to be the coldest it is going to get (thankfully). They're forecasting temps increasing for the next couple of weeks. Hopefully they are right...
I sympathize with all of you in the Northern part of our country and some even in the middle. The temps are looking crazy cold. Down here in Florida it is hot and I am not rubbing it in. I would love to get some colder weather-50's or 60's would be great for me, as it would be a nice change. I could not imagine having to deal with the ice and snow.
Here at the rig 11 miles north of Midland, TX the temps are already down to 17 degrees as measured by my Fluke 52 precision thermometer and it's not quite 11:00 PM. Weather Channel says we are supposed to go down to 15 degrees, but I think we will handily beat that. This southern cajun boy ain't used to temps like this!
Nearly 80 yesterday, 12 this morning with wind chill -4. Good grief. Looking at some of the temps around the country I feel warm! You folks are tougher than I am.
