The j-frame 22 appeals to me as a "trail/field" gun. Did S&W every make a Model63 in 3"? I prefer the heft of stainless.

Thanks

Not so far as I'm aware, just 2" and 4" versions, but I'm often surprised to learn of oddball runs for distributors such as Lew Horton. In my limited experience, I thought the 2" sight radius was inadequate for adequately accurate aiming ... I looked at one of the new 5" 63's the other day, and it's really sweet, but my 10 round 617 is sweeter!

I continue to beg SW to produce a .22cal offering on the Bodyguard frame. 3", Scandium, target sights.

I've gotta agree with you Sonny, at 11 oz. that 43C looks like a great kit gun. Less then half the weight of the stainless 63, and 8 rounds to boot.

I've got a M18-4 4" with which I'm very comfortable and confident. I'm just not wanting to carry that anymore. Several years ago it went back to S&W for a sticky chamber and timing. They re-blued it out of the goodness of their heart. It used to be in the field with me in "desert" canyons while fishing in Idaho - now I'm in IL and it goes only to the range.

Sonny,

Thanks for the links, I may have to wait for this one - M63. I want something that gives me a sight picture I'm used to and I'm not sure the 43C can come through on that on - radius is a bit small also - although if the radius were short enough, then everything would be of equal blur.

I have a 650 which is a 3" round-butt J-frame in 22 Magnum, vintage circa 1983 or '84. I like the gun but think an identical one in .22LR would be real sweet and much more versatile.

I also have a 650, but I had S&W retrofit an auxillary 22LR cylinder for it. It is the ultimate in rimfire versatility!
