J-Frame .38 Special Models

Has S&W ever produced an aluminum or scandium framed J-frame with a steel cylinder and a ejector rod shroud similar to that of the M&P 340/340PD in .38 Sp +P only? With no internal lock?

Trying to decide between 342PD/340PD/442 PC/M&P 340. I like different things from each, but there isn’t one that combines all the best features of each into one gun that I know of.

I’m leaning towards the M&P 340 because of the best sight picture with the deeper U-Notch/XS Big Dot, but I don’t like that I can’t get it in .38 Sp +P only for slightly better .38 performance since the chamber is slightly longer to accommodate .357.

Not that I'm aware of. However, I would think you could just have a stainless 38 cylinder installed on the 340.

I've often considered buying a stainless cylinder for my 342ti. Why? I'm not a fan of the special care you need to take with the titanium and its coating.
