Anyone carry their J frame OWB?

Some of us are not shaped to have anything in our pants but us. Getting bigger pants only means that you have to cinch the belt down tight and your back to not shaped to.....

Pocket carry is great unless your sitting down. Cargo pockets are great for sitting, but when walking the gun is banging you in the knee with each step.

J frame for weight or do ya just bit the bullet and carry a bigger cannon.

Yes I OWB J frames. I have DeSantis speed scabbard and Kramer scabbard. Both very comfortable and hardly know it is there. Agreed on your findings about pocket or cargo carry. Only thing I can comfortably pocket carry is Seecamp. 40 plus years and 40 lbs ago my first off duty gun model 60 was IWB in the Bianchi suede clip holster but just not comfortable anymore. There are some good Kydex OWB options also.

I use a Don Hume JIT slide for mine. Nice minimal holster for a small lite gun. The thing I've noticed with most OWB j frame holsters are they are really big or bulky for what you are carrying. Seems counterproductive to have 1# of leather for a 1# gun.

Thanks everyone I was beginning to think that I had lost what little bit of sense I had.
Yes for years I carried the F.I.E. in my Avitar, but times have changed. I no longer go away from home hours at a time leaving the door wide open (it's now closed and locked). I'm not so sure that a two shot .38 with a hammer action much akin to a bumper jack is good insurance anymore.
Again THANKS

I used to all the time in winter. Desantis thumb break scabbard on a Hanks belt. Problem was I have no hips to speak of, and cinching up the belt eventually caused nerve impingement on my left hip, which led to numbness and pain in my left thigh.

I walk at least three miles daily, and in the summer I wear Hikers hidden suspenders under my tee shirt, and pocket carry my 642 or my BG. I'm back to wearing the 1.25 inch cotton infinitely adjustable belts I've worn for 20 or 30 years, and the nerve problem has long since healed. But that belt doesn't adequately support OWB carry.

I can wear AIWB with that cotton belt, and a Lobo offset belt clip holster. I wear that to church, especially, so I can draw while seated. But the vast majority of time I am pocket carrying my BG, if not the 642.

EDIT - one other thing others might find helpful. I bought a pair of Duluth Trading Co ballroom jeans to wear on my Harley, because they have a little triangular patch in the crotch that makes them more comfortable. A little baggy for my taste, but the pockets are enormous. Makes it easy to pocket carry the 642 in a Mica holster.

Off topic. I'm comfortable with five or seven shots, and a reload, but the day Ruger adds a manual thumb safety to the LCP MAX I'm at the LGS to buy one.

I can't carry IWB. I have a Fobus paddle holster that works well in the colder months when I'm wearing a coat. I like paddle holsters. I'm going to get one for my G26.
Otherwise its a J frame in the front, strong-side pocket.

I frequently carry a 640 OWB in a leather holster from 1791Gunleather. In cooler months with a layer of cover garments it works really well. Its compact, holds the little revolver on my belt snug and tight, and I've never had a problem with it. Highly recommend their stuff. Summer months are a little more challenging with just an untucked t-shirt. I also use a Galco pocket holster with the 640, but the last few pairs of pants I've bought had front pockets that just seemed a little too small to conceal satisfactorily.

My coworker's husband passed away a little over a year ago. He was the same pants size as me. I purchased his pants, 10 pairs, which were a Wrangler flex waist jean. They work superbly for concealed carry. My weapon fits very comfortably IWB. I also have a Kore ratchet belt. I put the belt on with my weapon and holster and then cut it to length before securing the buckle. There's a little more overlap when I am not carrying but just the right amount for when I do carry. I can live with that. Either get a flex waist pants or go a size bigger to accommodate your weapon. Probably easier to adjust pants options than compromise by giving up a weapon you like or worse, not carrying at all. The advantage of the Kore belt and flex pants is that I can loosen the belt without unlatching it and my pants will pull down without unbuttoning them when going to the restroom. This means my weapon stays securely in place.

I use both of these. I know you are looking for OWB, while the flex tuk is IWB. I find it very comfortable. These are actually made for the Kimber K6s, but it is almost the same size as a J frame, the cylinder is slightly bigger (slightly smaller than a K-frame cylinder). The J frame fits just a little less snug.

The pocket holster works great for carrying in a coat pocket, even works in a lightweight spring jacket.
