Jerry, glad to see you bought it and make it over here from the truck site. there is a list of recommended and non recommended ammo in your manual. CCIs work pretty darn good. Have never had an issue.

You find all those coyotes on your land?

update:
Recommended-
CCI Standard Velocity
CCI Mini-Mag
Aguila Super Extra Std. Velocity
Aguila Super Extra High Velocity
Federal American Eagle
Federal GameShok
Winchester Super-X High Velocity

I just bought some bulk American Eagle for Midway but have shot any yet.

Federal Ammunition for me works every time. Copper plated. Not as dirty. Gun eats it up like crazy.

i have roughly 6000 rounds of walmart federal 550 bulk ammo through my 15 22 i just had her out today and she ran flawless like always i live in indiana and i can get a federal 550 pack from the walmart by my house for 16.00 dollars not to get off topic but has anyone ran there 15 22 on multiple range trips without cleaning i want to test the reliabilty of my rifle

I'm on three or so range trips about a couple hundred rounds each...

I normally put 1,000 rounds or more through my .22s before cleaning. Never found more frequent cleaning to be necessary.

Yes sir, every coyote in those pictures was taken off the family farm.

Im on around 3000rds of the Federal 550 boxes with no cleaning. No issues at all. Probably close to 8000rds with no failures at all. The rifle REALLLY love the CCI Tactical 22, when I want to get very accurate.

So it appears that everyone is telling me to go with the federal. Has anyone used the remington bulk ammo before and had the same probleming with the ammo failing to feed?

I clean always after each shoot. Just in case there is a long time between shoots. My sons and I always have a "gun cleaning party" after.....I guess it's a "bonding" thing. That's something I got used to doing as a youngster with my grandfather...:D:D

Time between shoots really isn't a factor, IMHO. All that is really necessary between shoots is to run a couple of patches through the bore and blow out any unburned power in the action. You can also clean the bolt face, if you want. Anything more really isn't necessary unless you have gone through several thousand rounds. I DO wipe down exposed metal surfaces with a silicone rag before putting any firearm away.

By the way, the failure to feeds that I had with the remington ammo, it was like the gun was trying to feed to rounds at once. everytime it happened I would pull the clip and one extra cartiridge would try to hang up in the port. Strange.

I was just taking into account storage....With several firearms, I don't get a chance to fire them all in rotation. So I just clean and lightly coat them for their preservation...:D:D

Just a nit to pick; it's a magazine, not a clip. :)

That said, are you following the directions in the manual as regards to loading the magazine? Simply pulling the loading button down and dropping a handful of rounds into the magazine will cause feeding problems most of the time,

Jerry, Take a look at the notable threads at the top of the 15-22 forum. There is a link to a video on magazine loading. That might be part of your problem - and it is a fairly common problem. As for Remington Golden Bullet bulk pack, there are those who say they are garbage and that the S&W manual says not to use them. I think the reference is back to when Rem put a sort of sticky lube coating on the bullets, cases and all. The recent production has not had that coating on it. I use a lot of Win 555, Fed, and Rem bulk packs and have had occassional stove pipes or failures to feed on all of them. The most trouble free for me has been the Win, then the Rem with the most trouble from the Federals - but like I said, very little trouble overall with any of them.

I hear you. If you don't plan to shoot again for several weeks or even months, a detail cleaning IS a good idea. For those firearms I don't shoot regularly I do pull them out of the vault about every 90 days and do a silicone rag wipe down.

I'm not trying to discourage you from cleaning, just saying that you don't, under normal circumstances, need to get anal about it. :) Of course, getting the kids to do the work isn't a bad idea, either. :D

Agreed and understood....I really think for me it boils down to spending more quality time with my sons after the range time at the cleaning bench.....hopefully passing along some tradition...:D:D
