when i was a young boy there were lots of "nice bear" movies and tv shows like "the bears and i" and "gentle ben" . my mom had my little sister then 6 and myself 8 with her as she was shopping in town she saw that the movie "grizzly" was playing at the mattinea, she thought it would be nice to treat us to a nice wildlife movie before taking us home.
turns out it was a horror show where some crazed giant grizzly bear was ripping people to pieces:eek:it even wrecked a chopper i think! my mom covered my sisters eyes, tried to cover mine through the bad parts but i had to see everything THIS STUFF WAS REAL to my 8 yr old eyes. mom tried to get us to leave but nothing doing! i wanted to see.
well, come bed time my supercharged mind was working over time .nightmares all night ,they were worse than the movie
i wanted to sleep with my parents mom said toughen up and go to bed
did a movie or something ever really scare you as a kid?

Jaws. We had an old above ground pool I always thought that Jaws would come up from below me and EAT ME when I was swimming. Even though I was and am a strong swimmer I wouldn't go to the pool alone probally a good idea anyways.

This was just last week.

Not really I was probally 6 or 7.

No movie ever made could be as scary as my fifth grade teacher. Even the newsreels during WWII.

I do remember one thing that scared hell out of me when I was eleven or twelve. Went to the state fair, and on the midway they had some poor devil of a polio victim in one of the old iron lungs. It was terrifying.

I remember a Vincent Price movie...I believe it was "The House of the Seven Gables"? It freaked me out pretty good. Ditto the flying monkeys.
Also, "Day of the Triffids", about these giant plants that started moving around & eating people. Good stuff!:cool::D

Tom Sawyer was the movie and the particular scene was when Tom & Becky were lost in the cave. That old Indian jumped out from behind some rocks at them and scared the living **** out of me. I was about 6 and I still dream about it even though I am now 73. I haven't liked caves ever since.

Not a movie, but I was pretty scared when I saw a mounted jaguar out of a display case at a museum in Ft. Worth. I'd never seen a big cat mounted.

I was about six or seven. Thought it was about to attack.

When my daughter was lttle, she was afraid that some woman in a comic book was going to come out of the walls and attack her at my ex's place. The woman in the comics wore a long yellow dress, but I don't recall the character's name. She was evidently a villain in the stories. Her brother thinks the noise in the walls was rats. My daughter had a nightmare after hearing the noise in the walls and somehow connected it to that woman in the long yellow dress. She was probably too young to be reading scary comics.

In about 1948 my parents took me to see a re-release of Snow White. I would have been three. I was OK with most of it but looked away in dismay when the wicked witch was on the screen. I really didn't like the part about the poisoned apple.

As for the big ants, anyone remember the previews?

Terror! Horror! Excitement! Mystery! -- THEM!

Or something.
