jeez was i scared!

i used to have nightmares about Doukhobors burning my house or any building while i was in it, in one dream i hid in the family cemetary on the old place.spooky.

"Creature From the Black Lagoon". Saw that one when I was 11 or 12 and I ++++ my drawers. Nasty. Won't watch any boogity-boogity movies since then and I turn 70 inna few weeks.

Another one was a photo of Hanoi Jane on an anti=aircraft gun in 72. Scary

The Birds did it for me too. We had a barn with lots of birds living in it, I couldn't go in it for a long time without a stick!

When I was a kid my aunt and uncle took my sister and me to see "The Fly" with Vincent Price and David Hedison. The ending where Hedison's head is on the fly which is trapped in a spider's web on a park bench and about to be eaten by the spider and he is screaming "Heeeeelllllp Mmeeeeeeeee!! really scared me. Vincent Price finally notices and crushes him with a rock before the spider eats him alive. I hate walking into a spiders web still today and then screaming Heeellllppp Meeeeeeee is really embarrassing too.

a faller that i knew years ago started cutting into a large spruce, several large "clumps of dirt" fell out of the branches onto him, only it wasnt dirt it was tens of thousands of tiny spiders . i didnt see it but apparently he did the spider dance and drove home naked. haha. not me i would have died of revulsion right on the spot.:)

That gave me the shivers. A friend once climbed a tree and saw a huge nest in a hollow crawling with black widows... he had nightmares for a while about it.

Between the campfire stories of "Slimy the Slink" at Spirit Lake Boy Scout Camp(Washington), and the "Creature From the Black Lagoon", I was puckerd tight for a couple of summers.

It's amazing how a story in the dark, on the side of Mt St Helens, could render a ten year old damn near catatonic..... the asst troop leader out in the brush helped with the sound effects.

"The Shining" and clowns, for me.

On the lighter side, I took my son to see "Jurassic Park" when it came out in theaters. He was probably 6 or 7 then. Scary enough for a little guy, anyways. My mom had sent him a blow up tyrannosaurus for his upcoming birthday which was about 4 foot tall. I blew it up and stuck in the little half bath under our stairs and turned the light off. Later, I told him to go in the bathroom to fetch something. He shot out of there like a scalded cat, slammed the door and leaned against it with eyes as big as plates. He still gets mad at me when I bring it up. :)
