Not taking sides here, just love the quote.

From CBS This Morning, Mr. Clarkson on being suspended from Top Gear....

In his weekly newspaper column Saturday morning, Clarkson made a veiled reference to the support he's received, declaring that protest never works "because we are all plankton. And the world is run by whales."

I really can't see the show continuing without Clarkson. The chemistry between him, Hamster and Capt. Slow is critical. The production values are first rate, the locations fantastic and usually "The Star In A Reasonably Priced Car" is great (except when it's someone not well known on this side of the pond).

The cars they get to test are the kind to drool over and then of course there's The Stig.

If Clarkson really did take a swing at a producer I have no problem with a suspension. If he hit the producer than I'd hope charges would be filed.

By the way I absolutely despise our version-totally unwatchable for me.

I know a Police Officer who had a run in with Clarkson in Nevada several years back, while they were filming a cross country in the USA segment. He said Clarkson was an arrogant bugger and had it not been for May and the Hamster he would have probably arrested him. At minimum written him a few citations for his driving antics.

Clarkson also likes to trash the USA on the Show.

Few days ago the press was at May's house and he opened the door for them. They asked a few questions and he stated he had no comment.

Someone apparently asked another question and his reply regarding Clarkson.... "He's a knob. But I like him".

I 'd bet Clarkson is a royal PITA to work with, but Hammond and May are along for the ride making millions on the trip, so they tolerate him.

Supposedly he was on some kind of final double secret probation for politically incorrect comments made on the show. I find this interesting, as the show is recorded and edited. The comments made it on air, so apparently were approved by the producers.

I would call it a publicity stunt, except the show doesn't need it.

Clarkson blows hot and cold on the US. It depends on whether he has recently been subject to the "pay a permit to do anything" attitude many states have. He has a problem equating that with "The Land of the Free" and has said so. I suspect if it were explained as just a different tax structure to what he is used to, he would understand rather better.

As for Clarkson's driving in Nevada, he has fallen to the temptations of the wide open roads and little traffic we have in many parts of the state. He is not the first Brit to do so by a long chalk. I was riding with a British visitor who ignored the advice to "set the cruise at 75 and forget it" while out in the wilds of US 95. He was a raving control freak who wouldn't use the cruise and thought he knew better about driving fast. NHP charged him $385 for their version of reality as I recall. In the back, my coworker and I were having severe straight face issues while the ticket was being written.

James May's comment is typically English, and I've said similar many times myself.

I love Top Gear with Jeremy Clarkson.

Huge commercial success.

If you've not seen it, you should watch it.

Clarkson is irreverent but very funny.

BBC would be foolish to fire him.

Political Correctness run wild.

He sure does...

Yeah, he said we were most likely we are inbred. Know what I did with that comment? Ignored it.

The show has been very successful for years and they really give cars a working over and report the results objectively. When they evaluate million dollar cars I can't relate but I loved seeing that Bugatti run across Europe and beat the plane to England. The video from the front seat looking at the road is unbelievable in a car going 250 mph.

Never heard of the guy or the program. Don't think I've missed very much.

Oh, yes you have. You don't know what you are missing!

The Hamster doesn't call him the Orangutan for nothing.

Top Gear as we know it may disappear from the BBC. The other two hosts (Hamster & Capt Slow) contracts are up at the end of the season. I could easily see SKY TV hire them and do a Top Gear clone. 350 million world wide viewers and 150 million British pounds per year income speak like an elephant! Too popular, too much money to be lost.

Name a country he hasn't trashed in some way. His sarcasm and timing is superb, and his abrasive personality is the key to his appeal.

He hates Piers Morgan. He's ripped on Mexico.

I love the guy. Hope he gets slapped on the wrist and then the show can continue with him.
