I may have been too political with I first attempted to post this, so I'll watch my "P's" and "Q's" this time.

Our Secretary of State traveled to Mexico today and took the blame for the Mexican drug war going on south of the boarder. According to her, we are to blame for two reasons:

1. We are huge consumers of their drugs
2. 90% of the guns used in the fighting come from the USA

I think this is deplorable! Too often our present administration blames America first for problems around the world. I saw Wayne LaPierre on GLEN BECK last week and he warned about this preemptive strike on our Second Amendment rights. Guns are being purchased from all over the world by the drug gangs and trying to place blame on American gun manufactures is an attempt to turn populace opinion against the Second Amendment so our laws can be further restrictive.

It is imperative we renew expired NRA memberships and join if you're not a member. Get your spouse to join. Get a membership for your children. Enlist friends that may not own guns but believe in our Constitution to join. The NRA is our main advocate in Washington and they need our support. Don't let our rights be further diminished!

I re-joined last week. I have a Mexican drug war going on right here in the upper Midwest. Don't know if Wayne can help with that, but maybe he'll keep my rights to defend our home a little longer.

I have learned from three (female) teachers at my school that they have recently acquired GFLs (Georgia Firearms License) and have purchased handguns. Tomorrow I will ask each of them if they are members. I suspect at least one is, but I really don't know about the other two. I'll find out.

2. 90% of the guns used in the fighting come from the USA

Today's Arizona Republic featured a top-of-the-fold photo of weapons purportedly "siezed" from Mexican drug traffickers. The weapons included a number of military looking rifles,a handgun or two, a couple of hand grenades, rocket propelled grenades, and other stuff not recognizable to me.. This photo illustrated an article lamenting the traffic of arms from the US to Mexico. Today's editorial was essentially a handwringing lament about the alleged USA-to-Mexico arms traffic, implying that "we're not doing enough to curb this illegal flow of arms to Mexico."

My letter-to-the-editor response follows:

"Wednesday's page one photo of weapons siezed from Mexican drug runners perfectly illustrates why the claim that they are being armed by US gun purchases at licensed gun dealers or at gun shows is a shameless canard. The photo shows hand grenades and rocket-propelled grenades, among other weapons. These are military weapons, not legally in civilian traffic, and not to be found in gun stores or offered at gun shows, ergo, these Mexican gangs have weapons sources well beyond the supply capability of "straw man" purchasers of recreational arms from US dealers or private sellers. No doubt some guns obtained criminally under false pretenses find their way into the hands of Mexican criminals, but that is no justification for reinstituting the so-called "assault weapons" ban or imposing any further onerous restrictions on law-abiding US gun purchasers."

Our enemies, foreign and domestic, i.e., Mexican authorities who are losing control of their country to criminals who are better organized and funded than the government, and the current administration and its cheerleaders, who are intellectually and morally bankrupt, will play this border crime issue for all its worth, at our jeapordy.

The LA Times says

Most of these weapons are being smuggled from Central American countries or by sea, eluding U.S. and Mexican monitors who are focused on the smuggling of semiauto- matic and conventional weapons purchased from dealers in the U.S. border states of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California. . . . The enhanced weaponry represents a wide sampling from the international arms bazaar, with grenades and launchers produced by U.S., South Korean, Israeli, Spanish or former Soviet bloc manufacturers. Many had been sold legally to governments, including Mexico’s, and then were diverted onto the black market. Some may be sold directly to the traffickers by corrupt elements of national armies, authorities and experts say.

And this: These groups appear to be taking advantage of a robust global black market and porous borders, especially between Mexico and Guatemala. Some of the weapons are left over from the wars that the United States helped fight in Central America, U.S. officials said.

I know this info has been posted before but it should probably be reposted with pertinent threads so all 2A supporters know facts from spin.
