We Stand with The NRA

Well said, Handejector.

By the way, did anyone here catch Wayne LaPierre's speech at CPAC the other day? I saw it in its entirety on Fox News (I don't know if any other network carried it), and saved it on our DVR. He cut right to the bone, with something few on the other side are willing to use - the TRUTH. It ought to be required viewing for all the newfound kiddie proponents for gun control who have reacted with emotion and not found the time to logically research their subject.

John

I found it on YouTube. It is truly a great speech.

Why was my comment about supporting the NRA (I’m a life member), but just joining for the first time the Gun Owners of America because my views are little more aligned with them deleted? I didn’t bash the NRA.

My lovely wife of almost 54 years said something to me today about joining the NRA, and I was gonna mention it to her. She is a dainty thing, a Lady of the first order, and can handle a firearm safely and shoot it well. We are gonna make it happen. I love her dearly and am so proud of her.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

First, I tip my hat to Lee for his reminder about who we are. I don't remember when I joined the NRA, but it was back in the mid-70s. Have been a Life member of one type or another for at least 30 years and am presently a Patron Life member.

As has been stated, the NRA is not a perfect organization. I have been through numerous disagreements with them over the years. There have been battles fought over how the NRA runs itself over these same years. It is because of these disagreements and battles that the NRA is now stronger than ever. I can say without a doubt, if it were not for the NRA, we would not be having these discussions now.

For those who are so quick to bash the NRA and who refuse to join, I would ask you this. Is the company you work for a perfect company? If so, you are extremely blessed. If not, do you continue to accept your regular pay check? Do you work within your company to change and improve things you disagree with? If you take their money and do nothing to improve your work environment, you are a hypocrite. I feel much the same way if you treasure your 2nd Amendment rights and do not support the NRA. You need to give some serious thought about working for change that you feel is important. You also need to give some serious thought to accepting the fact that you will not always win every argument. That's pretty much a corollary to life. You win some, you lose some, but you keep working for what you believe in. You stay in the game. If you don't, you are giving the opposition exactly what they want.

More than ever, now is the time to support the NRA. How much did your last gun purchased cost you? I guarantee you that an NRA membership is a whole lot cheaper. Five million people like you and me are who the NRA is. The NRA is our voice for support of the 2nd Amendment and gun rights.

I also stand with the NRA. I am a Life Benefactor member. Less than 7 years ago I was not even a member. The NRA is a big Lobby but it is also much much more than that. It also the only large Lobby that is grounded in grass roots participation of individual average Joe Citizen. We need them to be big and to hold a hard line. No one else will do it for us at the level they can. That's why they are being so attacked right now. They are unpopular with the media and with people that don't want to guns as part of our citizen country. There is a ground swell for us to become like Europe. So they will be hated. That doesn't make them wrong. In fact I think it makes them more right. Please join you you haven't already.

We need to be unified .. Show your NRA ICON

I know there a quite a few on this board who "are" NRA members that don't show as such in their profiles and thus the NRA ICON is not shown by your names......I urge you to put aside whatever reasons you had for not showing the ICON and edit your profile to show NRA membership as a show of support.

It's a small thing to do, but we need show unity in this fight.

My dad was a NRA life member and gave me a life membership around my 18th B-day. I remember asking him something like “what the heck am I going to do with THAT?” He just said, “someday you’ll thank me, son.” And I have many times. Thank you, dad...once more. Many years later I took advantage of their payment plan and upped my membership to “Endowment.” I am now planning on upping it once again as soon as funds allow.

Oh...and here is my obligatory Smith & Wesson family photo. I need to update it, as I’ve adopted another 1006, a CS40, a 342 and a 14-1 into the family since it was taken.

I have a credit card that I keep in reserve. But if you do not use it for about a year or so you lose the card and the miles.

So in a blatant case of exploiting another for my own benefit, I called up the NRA and donated $5 on the card. I apologized for the small amount. They said it was okay and thanked me.

However, I do not feel too bad. If every NRA member sent in $5 that would turn into about $25 million. If every gun owner sent in $5 that would turn into approximately $300 Million (300 Million people x 20% gun ownership x $5 = $300 Million)

Note: my figure of 20% gun ownership is a rough estimate
