Some young guys just dont care they live in the now . I was in a gun store about 2yrs. ago ,this 20 something comes in with his girlfriend with a nice hard rifle case and opens it up on the counter ; inside is a Marlin 336 30/30, scope, sling, checkered stock , clean , tells the guy he wants to buy the girlfriend a puppy , wants $75.00 dollars for it all . Before i can say i'll give him a $100.00 the dealer says done deal . Sometimes youth + brains does not compute .

Congrats on the purchase. That's a great deal even with the wrong grips. Hope the other one is as nice and maybe with a shorter barrel.
Post some pics when you get it.
Kids today, some don't have a clue.

GregC: Not to scold you, but if you were in the dealer's store, you'd have been in the wrong to jump-in in front of your dealer. Bad manners. You could have lost a good dealer relationship over that - plus been dog-cussed and thrown out of his shop. Better that it worked out the way it did.... Mike

I would have made the dealer an offer as soon as the seller was gone. I have made some pretty good deals that way. Helps to be in the right place at the right time.

Sometimes kids just haven't ever had the exposure or the opportunity to know better. If you are sure they aren't stolen, maybe it would have been better to educate him rather than take advantage of someone's ignorance.

I was a dumb kid once, and I am glad I had some people, occasionally strangers, help me out along the way.

I had the same thought. I remember older men who helped me when I was a kid. Even more vividly I remember a man who took advantage of my youthful ignorance with regard to some rare antique auto parts I had found and been given - Dale Dillard of Eustis, Florida.

I do not wish to make this a point of contention on this forum , but the dealer had no problems taking advantage of the kid at that price , a day latter i was in agian and he was asking 350.00 without the case . When i questioned about it he showed me some flimsey piece of 12.00 junk you could buy at wallmart. For those of you who would not have taken advantage of the kid , my truest respect , but in reality it s almost always about the money , sad but true . Back to the first post , enjoy the .357, good find and buy, Merry Christmas all.
