I don't get out much, so...but I did come across my 2 spare mags yesterday and put them in my pocket, don't know that LA had anything to do with it, but maybe unconsciously it did. However, I have been looking into getting some PPE against tear gas, just in case. I have a bit of asthma, and would not like to have tear gas exposure. Where I live is low risk for a riot, but not "no risk", and I'm kind of a belt and suspender, "be prepared" type, so...

The only time I can recall doubling up on mags and putting a rifle in the truck was right after a couple of planes disappeared into some buildings in New York. Things were legit unknown in that moment...not whatever this stage crafting is in LA today.

What would you call it, then? Certainly not a peaceful protest.

NOBODY is saying that any of those acts are legal or justified or anything like that. It is agreed that people who do these things are criminals and rioters and the full weight of the law should be brought down on them like the wrath of a ticked-off deity.

What the folks who are seeing it with their own eyes (and those who are getting their info from a broader set of sources) are saying is that it is not nearly as common, widespread or violent as some in the national media want you to believe - most likely for their own purposes. And at best it is only a pale shadow of the violent riots that have happened before in this exact same city. The mass marches down the street? Not a riot. The speeches and prayer vigils in the parks? Not a riot. The holding hands and singing? Not a riot. And Yes, the yelling at the police and the ICE agents? Not a riot - and ALL of it protected by the US Constitution's First Amendment.

I'll repeat what I posted earlier: Too many folks are losing their ability to differentiate between "protester" and "rioter" - and I fear it is because of nothing more than politics.

Have been to LA a number of times.
Have enjoyed all the sights and fun things to do there.
But even back in the day, after 4-5 days there I would get this overwhelming urge to leave!
We would usually load up and just drive to a motel somewhere out in the desert.
One time we were doing that. We stopped and bought sandwich makings. And we were sitting on the side of the highway having ham and cheese.
I looked down into the valley and saw a train coming. Then it looped and went under itself. When I got back to my office at Nellis, Vegas, I asked a Train Nut about it. He got all excited and yelled you saw the Tehachapi loop!
Apparently it kind of a Holy Place to Train enthusiast and I saw it before I knew what it was!

No. The odds of one man being able to hold off a mob with 2 magazines when one wasn't enough is exceedingly small.

While I am not going to start carrying a spare magazine I am going to start carrying in places I normally consider safe enough to not carry like my local grocery store. I don't expect any protests there but when things get out of control it emboldens ordinary criminals.

I suspect many people will not change their minds until they barely survive something bad.

What's that saying? Something about "Who said they brought too much ammo to this gunfight? " The answer being, "No one ever." Or something like that.

I just hope they get the chance to change their minds afterwards.
