The results are in and our forum members are decidedly smarter than my wife's kindergarten class!
The actual number of seeds in the sandwich bag is:
And the forum member with the closet guesstimate....drum roll please... PHARMER!!
A notable second goes to....RUSTY!!
Congrats brainiacs.
The closest class estimate goes to Joel at 500 and second was Brooke at 400. Congrats to them as well.
Now to test DWalt's Wisdom of the Crowd theory.
Forum guesses ranged from 214 to 1300 with the average being 614. For the purposes of science, I culled two guesses, >1 and 8, sorry Ivan and 375. I also edited Eric's guess of .378 to 378. The average guess of 614 would have placed 10th out of the 32 guesses.
Sorry Old Brown Hat, Raymond Babbitt never responded to your call.
For the kindergarten class, I culled four answers: one million, one million billion, 6 and 7. Their range was 61 to 500 with an average of 192. I just don't think those 5 year olds can wrap their brains around the larger numbers as yet.
