I was at the LGS and found this @ $249.99:

They took in approx. 150 of them a few weeks ago & I got the LAST one. I've never been a huge 5906 fan. But,it'll make a great house gun at the price.

Anyone have a spare ambi safety that they would be willing to part with for this?

my LGS that I deal with only has a few 5906 and 6906 LEO trade ins left and he wants 100 to 120 bucks more than what you paid.....you scored;)

Did you get it a Ed's Covington store? I forget the name. I've heard it's not as big as his one in Stockbridge.

So, should you change your name to Policeautopistolcollector? ;)

Reason I ask, is because that's what Ed's was selling them for.
Bibb County, and some other county LE agencies down there, is where they told me they came from.

They just got some Glock G34s(?) in from Bibb Co.
.45 GAP, night sights.
Mid $300s price range.
I have no interest in the GAP round for a few reasons.
One, it gives .45 ACP standard pressure velocities at .45 ACP +P pressures.
Two, no 230 grain loads available.
Three, I don't want to risk an ammo mix up between that and my .45 ACPs.
Four, I don't like Glocks.

Other than that, they look great.

Jaymo,
It was Ed's in Stockbridge. I got the last of the 5906s from the Bibb county trade ins. But, They still had some of Bibb S.O.'s S&W99s in .40 at a good price.

What day did you pick it up?
I just wonder if we were there at the same time.

I just hate that I missed out of the $1,200 pneumatic bolt cutter for $200.

That, and the compact 9mm SW99.

Don't know if you got spare mag or not, but if you did probably beat the recent AIM price by $100. I paid about $335 for mine shipped with extra mag. Then paid $28.50 for transfer. So a bit over $363 in hand. If you paid sales tax and transfer fee than about $100 under my in hand price. You did well, enjoy. Were the other ones with decock/safety lever same price or was yours discounted because of no safety lever? Hope you can find lever at decent or no price. But if not it should work ok without it, I assume.

Charles, As time passes Im sure you will be a 5906 fan. They are great pistols. Once you warm up with it at the range you will really appreciate the value of that great deal.

I bought it for $249.99 plus tax which brought it to about $267 OTD with one mag. They sold approx. 150 of these at the same price. This store does a huge law enforcement business. My agency just did a trade deal with them swapping our Glock .40s for .45ACPs a few weeks ago. They are the 5th or 6th largest Glock dealer in the nation. Since they are local to me, it makes it pretty nice. Occasionally, they even take in seized weapons and good deals can be had too.

[Iwell done. I just picked one up for $280.00. I think people are buying more and more of these since the all new guns are not all metal no more [/I]

Well done! If I find a good used handgun for under $300 these days I usually buy it - revolver or pistol.

I just ordered a SS Model 637 Airweight from Impact Guns today for $400 including shipping. My FFL only charges $15 plus $10 for the background check so I've used and recommended him a lot. I'm also picking up a mint (!) 2" Model 34 at Cabela's tomorrow & it'll be about $500. They actually have two - a square & a round butt & I'm buying the RB.

I bought a SS Model 63 2" in the late 80's & had Bill Davis in Sacramento re-chamber it in .22 Mag. I ended up selling it to a co-worker years later and have kicked myself more times than I can count. It was the only gun I've ever pulled in self defense & when the perp saw it he departed forthwith.

Early this Spring I bought a 1986 Chief's Special locally via Armslist for $275. The seller didn't really know what he had & said I was the first of 35 emails. I sent it to S&W to have it refinished but they did a bait & switch on the price and it took months of nasty emails & calls from me to get it back. I decided to have Oregon Timberwolf Guns in Mulino, OR CeraKote it in Cobalt & they've coated a number of guns for me and do a phenomenal job. I can't recommend them highly enough and here's a photo of a Beretta Model 84 they did a while back. The frame is Burnt Bronze & the slide is a custom mix grey/green.
