K-32 What do I have

Letter with photo's, in the mail. If it letters as a 4" I don't know what I'll do. I don't think I would shoot something like that. If it letters as a cut 6" I'm going to be the happiest guy around, not that the 4" won't make me happy, but I'm more a shooter than a collector so that would require some serious thought. You might say I collect shooters. A 4" K-32 is my absolute ideal revolver to shoot, so, it's a conundrum until that letter shows up. What a Buzzz.

Why the heck not, Stu? It's been fired before and it would take you, your children and your grandchildren a lifetime of shooting to wear it out. Regardless of rarity, what makes it valuable is that is a great gun, and great guns should be shot and enjoyed. If you can't bring yourself to give it the exercise it deserves, drop me a line and I'll be happy to provide the service... no charge, 'cause I like you!! ;)

If this papers as a 4" I thought that developing a turn line and the other assorted things that happen to a revolver when you use it will decrease its collectors value?
Am I mistaken here since condition is so prime to a collector.

Dear Frog,
From what I can tell it has hardly been fired. There is no turn line and the cylinder notches are as new. The only wear is storage wear.
Stu

Since it already has the wear on the muzzle, I don't think a turn line on the cylinder would lower the value any. Storage wear vs holster wear is still wear. Now if it was perfect, without any wear, then that's a horse of a different color. I'm with the others, I would take it to the range and enjoy it, but take good care of it.

Its a cool gun no matter how your letter turns out. Also, if you are an impatient person, one could always join the SWCA and have access to the ultra secret portion of the Forum.....rumor has it that a certain Mr. Jinks sometimes hangs out there.....maybe if you said Pretty Please he might be willing to give you an early indication of what to expect in the letter!

Stu,
What do you have?......probably a small gold mine, and an awesome find. Here's something to consider if it letters as a righteous 4": since you want a shooter, offer it as a trade for a 4" cut barrel version plus cash, lots'a cash. I'm sure there's a someone or someones on this forum with a cut 4" that collects more than shoots and would want an original.

Then enjoy the hell out'a shooting the new cut 4" version and take the cash to go looking for your next dream gun shooter! :)

And the line starts where? :)

Right now I have it torn apart, cleaning it up. It really does look like it hasn't been shot very much. It is a great pleasure to be able to share this find. Line forms to the right :~)
I do think it is time to join the SWCA. I have enough of them.

You really think this pre 16 is up in that territory if it letters as one of the 4" guns?

Stu

Given that a nice 6 inch version of your gun would probably go for 2500 or more, it would be close. Maybe not to a 98% example or something that had significant provenance, but there are still some nice shooters around. It might be interesting to post for a trade here and see what the respose is, provided it letters of course. You might think about gathering period correct information, SAT, and cleaning stuff to add collector interest. Itbwould be a hunt, but that would be fun!

05CarbonDRZ I think you might be right. After a really thorough cleaning and oiling up the barrel seems to be blacker than the frame. Oh well, what a shooter !

What a great little revolver! I saw a six inch and didn't buy it fast enough:(

Actually put about 150 rounds through, from soft WC target loads to my rather hotly loaded stuff for my 30-1. What a wonderful revolver. I'm good and well stuck on this gun. Having shot nothing but i-frames in .32 S&W Long it was a revelation. I put some target grips on it and, well, what can you say. Never, ever thought I'd have a k-32.
