I would think that I had gone to heaven if S&W would bring back the 6" K-frame Model 14, K-38 and offered it in blue and stainless models! I don't mean the new style with the lock and the frame mounted fire pin either! Also, a two inch model 12 would be cool too, as well as a straight 3913.

I have one of the new 14-8 models with lock. Don't have a problem with it. Very accurate revolver. A few years ago, before I ordered it from the local gun dealer, I ran across a test report on the internet.
Wish I could find it today.
Anyway, the conclusion was that the post-lock Model 14s were extremely accurate because of CNC machining. Tolerances are much tighter.
I have the handicap of 59-year-old eyes, but with a Remington 148 gr. hollowbased wadcutter, over 2.8 to 3.0 grains of Bullseye, it will shoot tighter than I can squint.
On occasion, I've had 50 yard groups (6 shots) at 3 to 3-1/2 inches. I can't do that every single time, but it happens often enough to tell me that it's accurate.
My only complaint with the Model 14-8 is that the action is not nearly as smooth as the older ones. This may be due to wear, or more attention at the factory when paying employees to do this sort of work didn't cost a small fortune.
My 14-8 rides nicely in an old Safariland shoulder holster while I'm roaming the remote Utah desert where I live. I don't use it for formal target shooting. Loaded with Speer or Hornady 158 gr. swaged lead hollowpoints, over a sane charge of Unique, it shoots accurate enough for plinking.
I don't shoot critters indiscriminately; I abide by "You kill it, you eat it."
So, I can't say how it would perform on game.
But here in the desert, every year I notice more and more jacklegs on 4-wheelers and trail bikes that have arrogant attitudes and think destruction is fun. Carrying the .38 is comforting.
Even more comforting is knowing I can hit accurately with it.

Incidentally, I tried to order a Model 14-8 a few years ago in nickel. Waited too long and the only one to be found in my area was gone. Had to go with blue. But I'm happy with it. The action could be a little smoother, but I don't see how it could be any more accurate.
