"Revolver Guide" by the late, George C. Nonte, Jr. On p.64 in the Care and Maintenance chapter, he talks about forcing cones and says:

...I have seen scores, perhaps hundreds, of medium-frame revolvers fired with relatively low-pressure ammunition which had developed cracks or splits in this area.
