K38 aftermarket grips. Farrant, Hogue etc.?

These are Hogue on a Colt Officer Model. I sent pictures to Hogue and they quickly responded. You may do the same and see if they recognize them. I believe this was an LA Police target gun.

"Yes, the grips look to be Hogue pre-CNC made Pau Ferro Colt Python (I frame). Inlet and rough shaped by mechanical pantograph equipment then Hand fit and Checkered."

Thank you for the awesome pictures.

This is such a great forum - I learn something new quite often. Here I thought that both of these grips were Fuzzy's, but, in light of this thread, I may have to rethink that.

First is an example of the "high thumb rest" on a 16-4...

And then there are these, on a 17-6, that look like they are "cut-corner" but they are not...

All opinions welcome.

I don't have anything to measure the threading, but my eye tells me it's a X40 threading. I took a set of Smith 1970's N frame service stocks and tried its screw on my grips. Screws right in. So whatever the N frame Smith is, that's what these are too.

Funny thing - the Smith grip screw is longer. Turning it in popped out the wood plug on the right side panel. Which has likely popped out before because one side is checkered while the other is smooth. Popped it back in after lining up the checkering on the plug with the rest of the grip.

S&W is 5-44 I believe. I have multiple sets of Hurst (8-32), Guy Hogue (6-32), Farrant (4-40) and what we belief to be Blackfords (8-32) and not a 5-44 in the bunch. Yes you can pop the plug out.

The oldest monogrips will have a thin brass escutcheon where as later ones have aluminum. Very early Hogues were made by Guy Hogue and will likely have chalk writing on the right upper side and later you might find a smile in marker with dots. The dots ID'd the worker, two dots (eyes) and a smile below was "Sally".

Pizza Bob:

Top is very Farrant like. Are the screws the same? Also need pics of the backsides. Very cool.

Thanks for the comments. Would love to accommodate but that would mean, first figuring out which safe they are in and then finding them within the safe. Definitely a "First world problem." LOL

:D:D My thoughts exactly Bob. I was reading this thread and thought about a set of similar grips that I have on a Taurus .32 Long. I bought the pistol because of the grips. I'd like to post them but I don't feel like digging them out! Maybe some day and y'all can tell me what they are. ;)
