Kinda disappointed

Will try different ammo today after cleaning.
.38 spl. in different flavors, and if that goes good then move up to Buffalo Bore Hardcast .357...
As it turns out, my Model 66 only had a quick wipe after being fired with .38 spl rounds last weekend. I checked again, and even fired 357 cases drop in with no resistance, even after firing mostly .38 spl.

You think things are bad now, wait till the move to Dirty Socks, Texas. I bet next to nobody makes the move from Springfield.

They are going to have to train a whole new work force on you prized 3.5" m27 that you sent in for a tune up.

And for all you Texans out there I am not making fun of your state. It is just that we up here are the industrial Northeast, in the heart of gunmakersville, and we can't get it right

My model 34 has been back twice. First for being out of time when brand new, then for binding. Insufficient cylinder gap. My TC at least twice. Marlin got replaced. Rossi got replaced. Model 29 once.
And that's just what I remember off the top of my head. IMHO it's not unusual to have to send things back.
I'd send it back again if'n it was mine. Especially since it was a factory job.
But yes, I would follow the suggestion to try some other loads first.

Was able to get time to run 6 shots thru today.
Super x 38spl. 158g lead
I believe they are plated brass shell.
Anyway, ejected fine.
The Norma brass may be a little thin.
Next, I'll run another round of. 357. Might be a couple of days . Work calls.

Just a question that might be dumb, are you sure it's your gun? Did you check the serial number against your records. Mix ups can happen. (though they shouldn't)

I would be very disappointed for sure. Don't let them off the hook especially since you paid them and the work wasn't free. I would contact customer service but be nice, they tend to stop trying to help you if you get nasty.

Good luck getting this worked out.

Shot a full cylinder of 158gr 357 fmj Norma.
Empties would not eject. Had to forcibly remove every case.

Also, while this is a petty but valid complaint, the front sight came back originally with a new nylon front sight in black. I figgered it was an overlooked item to put on the red overlay and when I sent it back they would see that it needed to be done.
It wasn't.
Have you used those rounds before in that gun? Was the result different?
Also: That's not a "valid" complaint. Unless you tell them to change the front sight, they aren't going to touch it.

Man, your post makes me nervous. My 66 is back there also. However, I asked for ....and was told they will do...a satin finish as with new. I think I am coming up on 6-7mos. now.

They call it 'ghost material'.
It was straight up a 10 month wait.
But it is nice.

The comment about Texas above, I read they are moving to Tennessee.
True. Maryville Tennesee. Also according to S&W president Mark Smith, revolver manufacturing and assembly will stay in Springfield when the rest of the company moves in two years.

In just more than three years when the transition is complete, Smith & Wesson's revolvers will still be manufactured here and stamped " Springfield, Massachusetts." But the company's semiautomatic rifles — the industry calls them modern sporting rifles while opponents say assault rifles — and semiautomatic pistols will be made in Tennessee.

No they're not moving to Texas, they're moving to Tennessee. Matter of fact they're moving to Maryville which is 30 minutes from where I live. And no, we're not illiterate and don't marry our sisters as you might think.

In fact we have a nuclear weapons production facility 30 minutes north of here that has the most highly skilled and most precise machining in the country. The tolerances on these devices surpass your wildest imagination.

Just 45 minutes north east we have a Mahle plant where Ferrari formula racing pistons and Porsche heads and pistons are made. We also have Barrett and Beretta plants in the state too plus several other smaller manufacturers.

I want to assure you that we have capable people that can easily manufacture anything S&W can dream up and manufacture them to the highest standards.

I might also point out that the bureau of standards moved part of it measurement and calibration operation to this area due to the ultra high standards maintained at the Y12 weapons facility. Their standards are the highest in the country.

I'm pretty sure they picked TN so the Execs and upper management could have ready access to the whiskey supply...

That's 200 miles west and just south of Nashville. There's some commercial and a little private moonshine here for the tourists but most isn't good drinking whiskey. But south of Nashville we have George Dickel and Jack Daniel. Good stuff!!!
