Kurt Vogler (Hammerdown) has passed

RIP Kurt

I realized recently we weren't seeing his posts any more and guessed it might be health related. Sorry to learn of his passing.

Kurt's daughter, Nicky, says:

"Thank you so much. I really enjoyed reading the responses and it brought tears to my eyes because my dad loved his time on that forum. I am not a member so I couldn't comment (I am his daughter) but if you would will you please tell them thank you for all of the kind words. His granddaughter beat cancer last May and we found out he had cancer around the same time. He fought a great fight and the radiation caused fibrosis which eventually took him out.) He went out fighting, conscious and with his family by his side. We are still in shock but we are happy that he is now pain free and no longer suffering."

Kurt (aka Hammer Down) was one of my best friends. I first met him on this Forum back when Parabellum ran it. And he spoke highly of Lee when he took over. Me and Hammer soon became best friends. I've known him since about 2002-2003.

Hammer and myself had been to many gun shows together over the years and I knew his Dad and even shot with him and his Dad at a local Range here in Nashville. We also worked together for RK promotions. Me, him and Nancy.

His family Nancy, Nicky, Tyler all are Great People! And he loved the grandchildren dearly. And he had been through allot over the last 2-3 years.

And when I lost my leg almost four years ago and while they had just taken off my leg, they found out I had cancer. And he was very upset about it and was there for me when ever I needed someone to talk to!

I talked to him at least once a week and sometimes 3-4 times a week for many years, depending on what was going on in our life's. And always at or during Holidays. And I'm going to miss our conversations. We'd talk about everything from Kids, Trucks to guns and everything in between! He used to give me heck about my Love of Colts. But he knew I Loved Colt 1911's and S&W revolvers. He'd say "why do fool with those clunky ole 1911's". But I knew he was kidding. I Think? LOL! But he forgave me because he knew I also Loved S&W revolvers. He was a true S&W lover and stayed true to the brand, even when he almost lost a finger or two when he had one blow up in hand about 10-12 years ago. And he was a Dodge Truck person and me, a GM guy. But we still got along.

But I lost a Good Freind and considered him and Nancy family! And I will always consider Nancy, Nicky, Tyler part of my family.

And he would be thrilled about this thread!

Nancy called me the minute he passed. I haven't been the same since. It's been tough. And it's even hard for me to post this. I have so many good memories of him. And will never forget him.

RIP Dear Freind! I'll miss you!

Thank you for sharing. Prayer from Texas for his family, friends, and those who knew him. May he rest in peace b

Sad News indeed.

Kurt's postings about his M16-4 conversion to .327 Federal by Hamilton Bowen prompted me to have mine done.

Long time members will remember the underserved negative treatment Kurt received in the "Parabellum" days of the forum and I was delighted with his return after Lee took over.

RIP Kurt.

Condolensces to his family and friends, I feel bad I haven't scrolled through the lounge sooner.

Kurt was very gracious in sharing info with me on a 2nd Model HE that belonged to another passed member. I was trying to help that member's widow. RIP.

Very sad to hear this. One of the worst things about getting old is people start to die all around you. When you've been on forums like this for a while it happens on them, too.

Sad News

Sorry to hear that Kurt has passed, Rest In Peace Kurt. I sensed that something was wrong but not aware of his illness. He had his own Forum and had been absent from it for some time, condolences to his family.

My condolences to Kurt's family.
Sorry to see this news as the man was but a year older than myself.
I followed the swing in his emotions as he updated us on Brylee and
was overjoyed when the procedures were deemed successful.

Wishing his loved ones comfort and peace at their loss.

Kurt, you will be greatly missed, you gave us all so much. So generous with you vast knowledge about Smith & Wesson. I always enjoyed your posts. May God bless your dear family.
