Still have 2 .40 s&w autos and today I bought a new 610-3 6.5" 10mm/.40 s&w
How does the 10mm impact on the plates compare to a full-powered 357 Magnum?
I do not own a 10mm but have shot several belonging to range patrons who are serious hunters and use them for hunting. They are nice and accurate and function well, I just don't need the extra power (and recoil) for punching paper and dinging steel. And I don't hunt so will stick to my "regular' calibers.
Big boys and there toys ! Carry what you Hope to be fast enough with and accurate enough with if ever needed and do not assume one shot will get the job done .
Fear the old person still very good with a 22lr semi auto pistol .
Called a sling.......goes across your chest.....
I reload for everything except for 22LR. My interest in the 40 has grown. I have gone from a single 40 pistol to five in the last year. The 40 will be back.
"Beaver will shine again, Bill Tyler!"
The .40 S&W was designed in a time when 9mm bullet development was not nearly as advanced as it is now. In the Miami shootout, the 9mm came up wanting.
Retired police firearms instructor and SWAT guy here. You have accurately described the event and I agree with your conclusions. After this tragic firefight the FBI produced a training documentary which included interviews with the surviving agents and a detailed description of the events. In watching this video what struck me was the fact the FBI never once acknowledged any mistakes or shortcomings on their part regarding tactics or equipment. These agents knew in advance they were dealing with heavily armed suspects with a history of shooting & homicide. Had the local street cops been involved I suspect they would have come prepared with long guns, body armor and the necessary manpower. Of course, the FBI wouldn't want to involve them because they don't want to share the headlines with the local agencies.

I'd take it, Alex....................
And suddenly the 40 SW ammo is cheap and not many are buying the guns. Fine by me. I enjoy the savings.
Check out those loading manuals, do not take my word for it, these powders in the last 20 or so years have changed the ability of the 40. That only applies to the bullets in the 125-155 weight range, the 10 is better for heavy bullets ,
Check it out.
Great post. Interesting conjecture on FBI agents of the 1930s; I think they would have made Swiss cheese out of those two suspects, likely every agent emerging from his vehicle with or very quickly retrieving a shotgun or a Thompson.
Now show their specs for 10mm, if they make that caliber.
IT NEVER LEFT............................It' will
Come back
I don't know... Glock inc has discontinued all commercial production of 40SW pistols except the 23 Gen 3. That's a pretty heavy blow.IT NEVER LEFT............................
