OK, I am guy that lays it on the line as I see it.

There are more on this site that do not show to be NRA members than that are members.

Is this because they simply do not show their membership for whatever reason or is it they do not support the NRA for whatever reason?

I feel we need to support the groups that support our gun rights. This is a pro gun forum. We support it. Why not support a group that spends millions each yr on pro gun lobby so we get to keep our guns? It shocks me that so many here do not display the NRA emblem on their profiles.

OM 45, this is as touchy a subject as those which may not be mentioned. Those that don't support the NRA usually object to their bad habit of "compromise." Those that do support NRA recognize that without NRA, the 2nd Amt would already be toast. Joe

:) If you don't want the magazine or just want to keep cost down you can join for $10 per year. Whats not to like about that. Don

Mr Pharmer, as you mentioned, without the NRA there would likely not be a Second Amendment. There would not be many states allowing concealed carry. There would not have been suits filed in DC or Chicago. These suits cost millions and the NRA is the one that keeps us able to own guns. Like them or not and I have some serious dislike of some of their politicians they suppport, the good they do far outweigh the bad. I just refuse to take a free ride on the coat tails of those that pay so I can get the same rights they do.

Sure I get ticked because of all the advertising they send my way, the phone calls wanting me to send them $500 of a politician or their sensless polls. But I love their victories in the guns rights on both state and national levels.

A basic annual membership will cost less than a box of ammo. Without the NRA, we likely would not be able to buy or shoot the ammo.

Whether you agree with all the NRA political positions, or not, the NRA is the only 400 pound gorilla we have in the gun rights arena.

Not all members wear it on their sleeve, here. This, does not mean that they are not every bit as committed...

In my case I haven't figured out how post avatars yet.

Go to the top of the page
click on user cp
click on edit your details
then click on NRA member
If you wish click your branch of service, law emforcement etc.
It's easy!
EDIT: Don't forget to save your changes at the bottom of the page.

I think you could make the case that the Second Amendment Foundation has accomplished more in recent years than the NRA, starting with the NRA having to be dragged kicking and screaming into the Heller case.

And, I'm a life member and a vet, but just don't care to advertise.

Ok Old Man...the last time I said that was when my Dad wanted to challenge me right before I left for Basic....he left with a broken rib...anyway #1 Hate to be the guy that points it out but the 2nd Amendment was here long before the NRA, they had nothing to do with it; it was the patriots and in particular the men at Lexington and Concord...#2 If we really support the Constitution then it shouldn't cost any money, the blood shed already is enough...it is written so let it be done.....now that I finished playing devils advocate I have to say that it took a long time for me to join the NRA...I DON'T LIKE LOBBYISTS....but at least for the most part they lobby for what I believe in....as for sharing my affiliation...well I feel that is up to each person...there is a lot of stuff I wear on my dress uniform that I don't let people know about...but that is me....

Yes the second ammendment IS written. The point is that the NRA has prevented it from being REwritten or deleted.

If you had watched the NRA operate in Iowa last year before the state elections, you would tip your hat and bow to them. These guys are tough and smart. We had a "may issue law" with each of our 99 sheriffs having their own rules. NRA sent an operator in and convinced the Democrat guv and the two Democrat houses of the legislature to quickly and quietly pass a "shall issue" law. It got done like a flash and the NRA promised to 'endorse' them. The endorsement meant nothing without big money support from the NRA which didn't happen. Net result....a Republican guv and House but a Dem. Senate(26-24).

Now I imagine some of you don't approve of the NRA playing rough and tough but they got results! The Pro-carry locals were getting nowhere. The big newspaper around here is totally anti-gun but they are also totally Democrat so they kept their mouths shut. If the NRA hadn't done the job, we'd still be crying in our beer!
