About lanyard ring, I too was wondering about that as I don't see one on any other ones. It appears to be factory as it's not through the ser# .

Sometimes, the lanyard loop hole in the butt through the serial number IS a factory installation. If S&W received an order for a Heavy Duty with a LL, but didn't have a frame without a serial number, they would take one that already had a SN and drill through it. Then, they would restamp the number on the inside of the grip frame.
