LEO Beats up 15 yo girl in cell

It's impossible to know what transpired before hand. For all we know she may have just stabbed an officer, or shot somebody...I'm just sayin... but it's hard to believe the girl could have done anything to get that treatment. She did kick her shoe off at the officer right before he came in. Maybe she had one of those knife clickie shoes. Anyway, looks like pretty rough treatment. Sad to see.

According to newspaper, this Officer has been involved in two line of duty shootings. one in 2002, one in 2006. Article did not say if they were Fatal. Cleared in both. Draw your own conclusions, Pro or Con.

Quote from article ~ "As we argued to the judge, it will inflame public opinion and will severely impact the deputy's right to a fair trial."

Geez, you think? No matter how "lippy" a person gets, the girl did not deserve the treatment she got. The assult with the show was not life threatening. The LEO lost his cool and deserves punishment IMO.

I agree Mickey.
It's unfortunate that the cop didn't use enough self restraint to deliver the life lesson somewhere off camera.

The video shows the girl crossing her arms and kicking off her shoe through the doorway of the cell. The video then shows the deputy's violent response.

I don't know what happened before the video. However, his response to being hit in the shin by a flying shoe was far too severe, IMO. If she had attacked him during the arrest or at some other time, he might have been somewhat justified in thinking that she was again attacking him. Even then, I think the response was over the top, though. They had her cuffed on the ground. I saw no need to hit her.

What gets me is that there always seems to be more than one LEO around and the other one either helps or stands by and does nothing. (See Rodney King.)

We are all human and we all have our limits, but the other guy could have stepped in and got the first one away before he ended his career.

They also picked her up by her handcuffed arms and her hair. I wonder how her shoulders are.

Nice girls don't steal cars, but still....

No telling what happened off camera, but sheesh!

I can't imagine any justification for a man to pound a teenage girl like that. He appeared to punch her twice to the head when she was face down on the floor.

The officer's attorney says the tape doesn't show the whole story. Hopefully, that will come out at his trial, and justice will be done.

I think we should just hang him and forget about a trial and learning what his side of the story is. Learning the facts behind the story takes too much time an is boring

We`al know the newspapers never get the facts wrong when they report about guns

I don't care if she had just killed his brother. There is absolutely no excuse. If it were my daughter, no matter what she had done, no matter what the provocation, I would kill him.

I have taught school for 23 years and have seen a whole lot worse provocation than that, from the same students over a long period of time. We aren't even allowed to handcuff them, much less assault them.

I also come from a culture where only thugs and white trash strike women, no matter what the provocation.

Have you EVER seen an attorney for a defendant, especially in cases like this, who said anything DIFFERENT?

If somehow he'd managed to survive the 911 attacks, Mohammad Atta's defense attorney would have claimed that the video of the plane hitting the WTC "doesn't show the whole story".

That's boilerplate, ESPECIALLY in cases like this.

Why doesn't he deserve the same right to his day n court that everyone else is entitled to? If he is convicted let him pay for what he did, I would rather wait to hear all the facts so I am able to have a informed opinion. I did not watch the video an I will not watch it because videos do not always tell the whole truth

SC, calm down. No one said he doesn't have the right to his day in court. No one. The majority said, if it happened as shown in the video, the guy should pay. Period. If you actually disagree with that, then I don't know you as well as I thought. Then again, I really don't understand the offense you've taken if you haven't even seen the video.

All I have to say is I hope this doesn't come as a surprise to any of you. Sure there are many dedicated hard working LEO's, but there are also many LEO that are power tripped jerks that get off on this kind of garbage. They should take his badge and gun away for a minute and let that girls father kick his ass like the no good punk he really is. I dont care what that girl did, there is no way to justify that. Thats just another loser being a loser and he should be fired, which he wont. If you or me did that at work we would be fired. Ok, enough...

All this dancing around it; the guy is a pig. If law enforcement doesn't want to be lumped in with pigs, then they need to clean house and send the few real pigs to the slaughterhouse. One incident like this undoes hundreds of good deeds that LEOs do every day.

Good for the detective who blew the whistle on the pig.

Oh, and the officer should also be found guilty of "extreme stupid" for doing such an outrageous thing in front of a video camera that he must have known was on. He was obviously out of control or he would have remembered to look into the camera and smile.

JMHO

The girl probably said something impugning the deputy's manhood, and he couldn't handle the truth.

And then the coverup.

"In his own report from the incident, Schene wrote that the shoe hit him in the right shin, "causing injury and pain." He wrote that he "placed" her into handcuffs and that she needed medical attention for a "panic attack."

Some panic attack. OH, right. His panic attack not hers. All depends on how you want to read it, right ?

What kind of moronic statement is that?

"If" I were that girls father, I would wait patiently and kick his ass severely! I doubt his penalty will be as severe as it needs to be according to this clip. I would make sure he was "ALWAYS" looking over his shoulder for me. "If" it meant me going to jail, then so be it. JHC, she's a 15 year old girl! I have a 16 year old daughter...I can relate.

For whats it worth, the incident wouldnt have come about had the father done his job years ago.

I am calm, I am just making my point that same as everyone else is.

I wasn't responding to the majority, I was responding to the person that said these words that was the only person I responded to "This guy needs to be in the state pen."

I didn't read the other comments, I read the first one and responded to that one, if other people agree with me (and you) that if the video is a true representation of the facts he should be thrown in the pen I have no problem with that.

Now if you disagree with me and agree with the implication hat he is automatically guilty then I guess we have different opinion about the right to a trial and innocent till proven guilty.

About 10 or 12 years ago my dentist was tried and convicted in the newspapers because a young child died in her office. The poor woman went through hell till the facts came out and it turned out that the parents were turned down by different dentists because the child had health problems and should not undergo the procedure. The parents withheld that information from my dentist in order to get her (maybe trick her into doing the procedure) .
I stood by her as a friend and patient and offered her my support while the poo storm was raining down on her from the press while she suffer from having her good name and reputation vilified by the media. The death was front page headlines, the vindication and facts that showed the she was innocent of any wrong doing were buried in the back of the paper where most people never saw it. How much did her practice suffer because she was automatically judged guilty by the press, I guess we will never know. But that is why I have a problem with people jumping to conclusions.

So I would rather wait for all the facts to come out before I am ready to make the statement "This guy needs to be in the state pen"

I am not saying this guy is not guilty, but if he is innocent he will never be able to get his reputation back

You're right. I should have worded that "If that were my little girl". My daughter wouldn't get arrested but I know she might certainly kick her shoe off at someone!

I doubt that girl's father has much influence on her if she is out stealing cars.

This cop is most likely hosed. He's been charged in state court, and I wouldn't be surprised in he faces federal civil rights/color of law charges.

A couple of years ago I did a civil rights case on a jailer who administered a much lesser attitude adjustment to an adult female. He got three years in federal prison. No video on that one, just two good cops who witnessed what he did and came forward. The victim was so drunk she didn't even know she'd been punched.

I didn't contribute to, or even read much of, the cop bashing thread. Its the same crap everytime a thread like that shows up. I will say this, though. To all of you who believe there is some "blue wall of silence" I can say this. As someone who has actually put cops in jail (I helped put two on death row) I can assure you cops will rat out anybody once the thought of no pension and cell block salad tossing enters their heads.
