LEO Beats up 15 yo girl in cell

All this dancing around it; the guy is a pig. If law enforcement doesn't want to be lumped in with pigs, then they need to clean house and send the few real pigs to the slaughterhouse. One incident like this undoes hundreds of good deeds that LEOs do every day.

Good for the detective who blew the whistle on the pig.

Oh, and the officer should also be found guilty of "extreme stupid" for doing such an outrageous thing in front of a video camera that he must have known was on. He was obviously out of control or he would have remembered to look into the camera and smile.

The girl probably said something impugning the deputy's manhood, and he couldn't handle the truth.

And then the coverup.

"In his own report from the incident, Schene wrote that the shoe hit him in the right shin, "causing injury and pain." He wrote that he "placed" her into handcuffs and that she needed medical attention for a "panic attack."

Some panic attack. OH, right. His panic attack not hers. All depends on how you want to read it, right ?

It's unfortunate that the cop didn't use enough self restraint to deliver the life lesson somewhere off camera.

What kind of moronic statement is that?

"If" I were that girls father, I would wait patiently and kick his ass severely! I doubt his penalty will be as severe as it needs to be according to this clip. I would make sure he was "ALWAYS" looking over his shoulder for me. "If" it meant me going to jail, then so be it. JHC, she's a 15 year old girl! I have a 16 year old daughter...I can relate.

For whats it worth, the incident wouldnt have come about had the father done his job years ago.

SC, calm down. No one said he doesn't have the right to his day in court. No one. The majority said, if it happened as shown in the video, the guy should pay. Period. If you actually disagree with that, then I don't know you as well as I thought. Then again, I really don't understand the offense you've taken if you haven't even seen the video.

I am calm, I am just making my point that same as everyone else is.

I wasn't responding to the majority, I was responding to the person that said these words that was the only person I responded to "This guy needs to be in the state pen."

I didn't read the other comments, I read the first one and responded to that one, if other people agree with me (and you) that if the video is a true representation of the facts he should be thrown in the pen I have no problem with that.

Now if you disagree with me and agree with the implication hat he is automatically guilty then I guess we have different opinion about the right to a trial and innocent till proven guilty.

About 10 or 12 years ago my dentist was tried and convicted in the newspapers because a young child died in her office. The poor woman went through hell till the facts came out and it turned out that the parents were turned down by different dentists because the child had health problems and should not undergo the procedure. The parents withheld that information from my dentist in order to get her (maybe trick her into doing the procedure) .
I stood by her as a friend and patient and offered her my support while the poo storm was raining down on her from the press while she suffer from having her good name and reputation vilified by the media. The death was front page headlines, the vindication and facts that showed the she was innocent of any wrong doing were buried in the back of the paper where most people never saw it. How much did her practice suffer because she was automatically judged guilty by the press, I guess we will never know. But that is why I have a problem with people jumping to conclusions.

So I would rather wait for all the facts to come out before I am ready to make the statement "This guy needs to be in the state pen"

I am not saying this guy is not guilty, but if he is innocent he will never be able to get his reputation back

You're right. I should have worded that "If that were my little girl". My daughter wouldn't get arrested but I know she might certainly kick her shoe off at someone!

I doubt that girl's father has much influence on her if she is out stealing cars.

This cop is most likely hosed. He's been charged in state court, and I wouldn't be surprised in he faces federal civil rights/color of law charges.

A couple of years ago I did a civil rights case on a jailer who administered a much lesser attitude adjustment to an adult female. He got three years in federal prison. No video on that one, just two good cops who witnessed what he did and came forward. The victim was so drunk she didn't even know she'd been punched.

I didn't contribute to, or even read much of, the cop bashing thread. Its the same crap everytime a thread like that shows up. I will say this, though. To all of you who believe there is some "blue wall of silence" I can say this. As someone who has actually put cops in jail (I helped put two on death row) I can assure you cops will rat out anybody once the thought of no pension and cell block salad tossing enters their heads.

I agree with you!

If that cop's father had taught him to respect others and to show restraint before he got the job, this probably wouldn't have happened.

Why, as far as we know, the cop is taking out his childhood frustrations on the weaker and more vulnerable because of his childhood.

The cop's lack of discipline and restraint ain't the girl's father's fault. The cop is totally and solely responsible for his own lack of self-control and self-discipline.

It's only the cop's fault that he'll beat a 15 year old girl while subdued and on the ground. The man obviously has issues and may well be in the wrong line of work.

Just close the door and walk away.

I doubt that girl's father has much influence on her if she is out stealing cars.
...it was HIS car...she borrowed her father's car without his permission...and got BEAT LIKE A RENTED MULE for her trouble!...

..HIS problem is he joined the wrong department...

Nice girls don't steal cars, but still....

If my daughter took off in my car, unbenownst to me, and I called it in as stolen, I believe I would be pretty well over the edge to find out my daughter was treated this way. Hell, I would be over the edge to find out my neighbors daughter was treated this way.

I'm not an LEO and realize that they put up with an awful lot of BS (And if my daughter called a cop a fat pig she would deal with me for her mouth as well as her stupidity) But....... I don't see anything on the video that indicates the TWO COPS who had her down on the deck were in any danger and that the blows were anything other than blue rage and retribution.

That's not my daughter in that holding cell. But, it could have been. It could have been yours. Is that how you want you and yours to be treated ????????

Makes absolutely no difference what happened before... she was already in the cell, all he had to do was finish closing the door. Instead, he decided to go in and assault her. Kudos to the prosecutor for filing charges. No excuse. His career should be over. When the lawsuit is over, that 15 year old will be living in his house, and driving his car...

I think we should just hang him and forget about a trial and learning what his side of the story is. Learning the facts behind the story takes too much time an is boring

We`al know the newspapers never get the facts wrong when they report about guns

You're not serious I hope? A 15 year old young girl flips her shoe off at an officer and gets that treatment. Sure am glad she didn't hit him with her fist...he might have killed her. What more do you need to see. This asshat should never wear a badge again.

Gentlemen, I have been in L.E. for 28 years. I have seen things that will bring grown men to tears. Have spent countless days where I could not go to sleep due to what I had seen and been involved in. I worked mostly deep nights 11pm/7am shift. Most L.E. Officers will see more crap in one year than most of you will see in a lifetime. I worked myself up from Patrolman to Captain. It was not an easy job by no means. I have an outstanding wife and family. Raised two productive and great kids that are now contributing to society. Son is 26 years of age and daughter 23 years of age. I cannot count the number of times I missed their birthdays, sporting events, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and many other family events that I wanted to attend. Like I said I have a great wife and we have been married 32 years. Almost unheard of in the L.E. community.
When I told my family (inlaws included) that I wanted to go into L.E. I was begged not to. I told them that it was something that I felt a calling to do and that I had to do it. I was asked by my father, "What happens if you are killed". My response was, "Then you must know that I feel that it was worth it". With this statement my father who is now deceased said, "Then do it". Twenty Eight years later I don't know if it was the right decision or not. Society has changed and not for the better. Our Country has changed and the attitudes of people have changed to the degree that I am thinking that it was not worth it. I have been lucky. The worst injury has been srapes, black eyes, and torn muscles. Been involved in two shootings and they were not fun. Have had several co-workers shot and one died of his injuries. Have been to many Officer funerals and when amazing grace is played on the bag pipes I realize why I went into L.E.
Now to the video. I do not know what occurred prior to the Officer assaulting the girl but from what I viewed three times it was out of line and the Officer will never wear a badge again. He lost his cool and he will pay for it. He will be fired, prosecuted and possibly face federal civil rights violations which can and most likely land him in federal prison. I am viewed by my peers as "old school" but from what I have seen Officers do not cover up for their co-workers. I believe L.E. in general police their own at least my department does. It is unacceptable to act in the manner which is displayed on that video. That video is most likely on you tube now because the King County Sheriffs Office released it and are policing their own with charges. There is no reason for members of this forum to resort to name calling. The video is what it is and I am not too happy about it either but it occurred and the guilty will be punished probably at a higher degree than someone who is not an officer. This post is not meant to bring "poor officer". It is meant to show some insight into
what it is like to work in L.E. Police Officers are not the only profession to sacrafice their home life. I can think of many occupations such as truck drivers, doctors, salesmen, airline pilots, etc. but then they do not see the dark side either. All I ask is that when you come into contact with an Officer give the benefit of the doubt. He is most likely a good person with a good heart and is trained to do the right thing.

I didn't click on the link before because I try to avoid viewing trial by press reports, I read the written report but didn't view the video. One thing that caught my eye was that he was turned in by a cop. Now for a cop to look at a video and report it, that says to me it is a good sign that there are cops that won't over look something done by a fellow office that may be out of line. I am not saying the guy is guilty but I wouldn't trade places with him for a million dollars. let the facts come out in court and the chips fall where they may.

silvercorvette,

I always enjoy your posts, and you seem to have a lot of common sense.

But, this time, I am scratching my head. Didn't we learn, as LEOs, that we always follow the evidence, regardless of where it leads?

To comment on this situation without viewing the video is kind of like ignoring some possibly important piece of evidence.

Just check it out. It is a prosecutor's dream. It shows him apparently striking her after he has her under control and on the floor. I use apparently just because I can't see the actual contact. But, her reaction seems to me to be one of being struck.

His problem is, that even if he could justify the initial entry and takedown, the latter part of the video will take someone who can walk on water to justify.

I expect, based on my experience, his lawyer is trying real hard to get the prosecutor to work the case out without a trial and, while I don't know about that state, in mine, he'd be de-certified as a LEO.

Will be interesting to see if he ends up pleading guilty or nolo to avoid that jury trial.

Bob
