Let the weeping and gnashing of teeth begin

Ummm… no, not yet.

It’s on the Governor’s desk. He can sign it or kill it or ignore it. If he signs it, it’ll still be about 3 months before it’s real.

Sevens, you are correct. Do you remember how many days it can set on his desk without his signature before it automatically goes into law (to begin the normal 90 day wait)?

I’m unsure of that.

It does appear that this law fits right in with nearly every new “pro 2-A” law in Ohio — it’s very poorly crafted and twisted up BADLY from it’s original intent.

Here’s what some of us locals have to say including great insight from a long time LE, and trust me, this particular LE is a great guy and 100% on the side of the armed law-abiding citizen. He’s a gun guy and I trust him explicitly.

Sevens, Just found my answer. Bill will take effect 10 days after it reaches the Governors desk if he chooses not to sign or veto. Sounds like it is going to be a mess for the officers on the road to sort things out and thugs are gonna carry no matter what anyway.

Yeah, it does read like they really messed it up. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. The original version of concealed carry passed in 2008 had so many restrictions it was pointless.

I wonder if having a CCW will become the only accepted proof that you meet the requirements to carry...Who has the burden of proof if accused of not meeting the requirements?

But it may all be irrelevant. DeWine is far from being our friend.

OOH MY GAWD IT'S GONNA BE THE WILD WEST BACK THERE. :eek: Gun fights and shoot'em ups all night long. Lock the doors, make sure the wimmin 'n children are inside before dark. Stay off the streets at high noon. I'm gonna be skert to go outside for the bullets what is gonna be wizz'n about all hours of the day and night. Anarchy I tell ya. Pure anarchy, dawn to dusk, and all night long. :D :D :D :D Youse buckeyes is in for it now, the liberal media is gonna crucify ya.

Why should a LEO be able to stop someone who is printing???
What is the justification? Even if you need a permit to carry stopping someone who is printing is jumping to the conclusion that he is committing a crime by carrying when there is every chance he is legally doing so. So, where is the "probable cause" ?

I can see the guy driving so I should be able
stop him to see if he has a legal right to do so. LOL

If I was stopped by an LE for printing, I'd thank him/her for the notice then reposition my clothes.

If he stopped me and just said hey, bud your printing, that would be fine. If he started in with a bunch of questions I would politely ask if I was a suspected of committing a crime. Sorry, but they have absolutely no right or reason the suspect me of anything criminal just because I am printing and if I am not suspected of a crime they have no legal grounds to question me and I have no legal responsibility to answer. Certainly not in this state. I also believe that it would be difficulty to actually convict anyone stopped for printing in any state with legal concealed carry once they retained a descent attorney.

I am not anti LEO, but I am more pro rights. I have a right to go most places with a gun open or concealed, even poorly concealed. I am sure my 325 prints enough for a real observer through to show under my T shirt in the summer. SO? Besides, I might have a tool, a odd phone case or medical device on my belt. What I DO NOT HAVE is any evidence that I am engaged in any form of criminal behavior.

The first time I ever carried I got stuck in a checkout line at midnight in a supermarket with a cop right behind me. Had my boat anchor Taurus 605 in my right front pocket. I felt like a dog crapping peach pits while the cashier changed the paper in the cash register.

Game Wardens check licenses and boat registrations with ZERO probable cause . Police set up checkpoints all the time . The precedent is there .

Ohio concealed carry has a strong history of wedging in a junk, barely acceptable piece of “pro-2A” legislation that is a skeleton of what is wanted/needed and what was originally written. Then, over time, through updates and re-writes and amended language, it gets molded toward what is needed and what makes sense (what would have made sense from the get go.)

It’s… the political process. As someone famous once said “it is the worst system of government ever devised except for every other system of government ever devised.”

Or something like that.

Game warden here can only ask for my fishing license while I am actually fishing. My boat registration number is on the side of it just like my truck has one on the back. I have never been stopped in my boat. Walking around in the hills with a gun he first has to ask me if I am hunting before he can ask to see my license. I have every right to walk around with a gun any time I want. Never been asked in the field without a dead animal.

Police in this state can not set up random check points either.

They can only set up temporary toad blocks for very specific reasons.
(a) apprehend persons known to be wanted for a violation of the laws of this state, of any other state, or of the United States;

(b) except as provided in 7-33-2212, respond to an active emergency;

(c) respond to or mitigate conditions in areas where a significant number of known causal factors of motor vehicle accidents involving fatalities, injuries, or other serious legal violations are known to have occurred.

(2) During a temporary roadblock, verification of a valid driver's license, vehicle registration, and insurance may be required.

(3) In the course of conducting a roadblock under subsection (1)(c), a law enforcement officer may not issue a ticket, citation, or summons for a secondary offense.

(4) For purposes of this section, the following definitions apply:

(a) "Active emergency" means an incident that threatens public safety, health, or welfare and requires immediate action.

In other words they have probable cause to just setup.

Years back a friend was working a construction job, Had a big tool box in back of his truck and a gun rack. He drove past a game check station on way home. Warden chased him down lights flashing. He pulled over, warden asked why he didn't stop, he said I wasn't hunting, I am going home from work. Good bye. Warden said I want to look in the box. Buddy said to bad, get a warrant. I am going home and did just that with warden following him. He parked in driveway and warden parked on street about an hour later deputy shows up with a warrant. Guy has them read it then opens the tool box. Nothing but tools. Warden is hot about guy wasting his time. Guy says no you wasted your time, I was minding my own business and you chose to believe I was a liar. Absolutely nothing warden could do.

Some state's citizens need to quit letting their rights get trampled.

Yep, happened in Maine in 2015 when they passed Constitutional Carry. Streets immediately ran red with blood.
Oh, wait, no I was wrong that’s Chicago without Constitutional Carry.
Now let’s see, oh yes, Maine has had no issues. I apologize.
