Some people a little ways from me had a dog dropped off on them. He had a collar and his nails were trimmed so someone had him and for some reason couldn't keep or want him anymore. The people ran an ad on a local neighborhood web site for the owner but nobody claimed him. I told them if nobody claimed him then I would give him a home. The people couldn't keep him and told me I could have him since nobody claimed him. So now I have him. He appears to be a Chihuahua and he seems to be house trained also, so the people told me anyway.

Looking at him he reminds me with those bug eyes of a deer. So I think I will call him Bucky. I had to bop my male a few times because he didn't like the stranger in the house. All three are sitting together on the floor around my chair. I guess they will become socialized soon as family.

He has been spoiled I know that for sure. He knows people food tastes much better than dog food. Give him a piece of dog kibble and he doesn't even sniff it but throw him a piece of cheese and he scarfs that down real quick. Then he waits for some more. Yeah someone spoiled him. He is right at home on my lap or in my bed.
He has short round white worms coming out his butt so he needs dewormed for sure. Would worming pills from Wally's or Tractor Supply be sufficient or should I take him to the vet?

Here's Max, our 5-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. We've had many dogs over the years, but my wife has always wanted a 15-pound lap dog to follow her around and be her companion and just be a "love sponge", which is what King Charles Spaniels are all about. He's smart, trains well, and is a joy to have around. :)

If you are keeping him, take him to the vet!
Also, you have no idea if he has had his shots, like rabies.

Sounds like maybe tapeworms. Take him to the vet. The vet will probably prescribe Droncit. The dosage will be based on the dog's weight, and can either be injected or given orally in tablet form. If left untreated, the worms will continue to multiply. One way for dogs to contract tapeworms is by eating rabbit droppings and rodents.

Tapeworms respond very well to treatment. Treatment is usually given once, then again x-number of days later, and that usually does it. If it is tapeworms, get them cleared up asap if you're going to continue to let him sleep in the bed with you.

I never buy dog meds from stores.

And there probably isn't a dog in the known universe who doesn't love cheese.

Going to have to rename this to the never ending post . We babysat my 2 Aussies step sister , same mom/different dad . She's a little hell raiser . She's the one I wanted , but ended up taking Nalas sister , Nebula . First time in all these years I've ever owned two dogs from the same litter . Never a dull moment , they keep each other occupied ALL day .

After losing my 7 yr old Brittany to kidney disease last fall I couldn't even look at this thread.

Sincerest condolences on your loss.

Am now excited to show you my 9 week old Aussiedoodle - his name is Moose. What a pure joy spending time with him!

Great photo! He's beautifully colored. I can see right now that Moose has the potential to enliven your days for years to come. New dogs are such fun...I envy you. Revel in your time with Moose.

Thank you very much Watchdog! His color is what's called blue merle and he's just the cutest thing going around here. And yes, he's a little fur ball!

damn Watchdog , just when I thought this had died ! Well anyways , give Beau a birthday hug for me . Where's the cake and ice cream ?

Beau got lots of hugs and attention from friends on his birthday. He was sorta ignoring Annie for a while, because he thought she wasn't being as attentive to him as she should be...but he got over it.
