Let’s See those Hammerless Smiths.

I forgot to include this one in my original post . . . NO, I do not use it as part of the teaching inventory

^^^^^^^^ You know, that is one of those guns that make me think, if I could only have one gun, what would it be? (Doesn't look like either of us is going to have to worry about making that choice). Well, that one could fill the bill!! Useful, beautiful, elegant, compact, safe, adequate caliber, classic....wow.

Thanks for sharing!!

Best Regards, Les

I have quite a few Smith and Wesson Centennials in the training inventory. Most of them are in this picture

J-frames2s.jpg

I do personally carry Smith and Wesson Centennials, these days it is usually a Model 340. I think the Centennials are the best choice for a pocket or purse gun. Usually if I have an ankle or belt holster I will carry a J-Magnum that has a hammer.

In the last couple of years I have been playing with carrying a NY reload and 2 of my Performance Center 940 Specials have filled that role

ny-reload1s.jpg

This holster allows me to draw a single firearm in the traditional manner or a cross draw. It is even possible to draw both simultaneously

Yes I do practice week hand shooting on a regular basis

Please tell me you New York-Reload Carry in that holster! Because if you do that is inspiring! I NY Reload Carry myself but one in the front right pocket and the other @ 4:30 on the beltline!

Do these count? Top to bottom:

1994 Massachusetts police agency issued Model 4053 "1053" 10mm by Bill Weir (BMCM)

Model 296Ti

1957 pre-model 38

1990 Model 64 NY-1

Still looking for a period correct brushed aluminum Tgrip for the NY-1

That is exactly what I do

I was even thinking about letting Bell Charter Oak make one for a pair of auto loaders.

Perhaps a pair of CS10s or 1013/1014s

Many folks are unaware that James Bond was issued the Cenntenniel Airweight at the same time as the famous Walther PPK....here's mine with the text of the original Ian Fleming story behind it....

Best Regards, Les

That Centennial AirWeight is just awesome! I never knew James Bond carried an M36 concomitantly with a PPK... Speaking on the subject of "concomitant" can one run the back grip insert you have there with a Tyler-T grip at the same time? I have big mitts and that could allow me to get an even better grip with my 3 "J's"... and if that back grip insert comes rubber coated then I know my wife will want one to run on her M642 Airweight with Tyler T...

HamHands,
That is not an insert.

The early "hammerless" guns and the Centennials, then models 40/42 that followed had grip safeties.

It was not until the introduction of the stainless Centennial (Model 640) and airweight Centennials (Models 442/642) that the grip safety went away

Here are my three: a New Departure in .32 S&W, a Centennial in .38 Special, and a police trade-in 640-1.

I've got more if y'all let "Owlheads" play.

I am the proud owner of two such revolvers, a 342PD and 640-1 Pro. The 342 is perfect for pocket carry.
