Let's talk, why M&P 9mm??

As shocking as this post may be, it is outrageous that I should need to do a trigger job on a firearm.

I bought an M&P Pro 9mm full size a year ago, I liked it, still shoot but…

It shoots low…
Gritty trigger…
Reset feel sucks…

I spend way more time shooting 1911’s because of trigger feel, and SIG still smokes the striker fire on trigger feel. IMHO of course

Yea man, I;m a huge Sig fan as well as S&W, just as of right now, Sig is not in my budget. But I mean, if you don't like the trigger, put one in.

I just shot my m&p9c at the range today and i have to say i agree with most of the posters. I like the way it fits my hand, the accuracy and the soft felt recoil. It has been 100% reliable and i personally think the trigger is great. It and my cz75b are my two favorite pistols to shoot. My favorite revolver is my smith 686.

Congrats =] I havent had a chance to shoot an S&W compact yet. I just had a baby so I havent had time to really do much lol.

However, I plan on doing so soon. As soon as my tax return gets here, I'll be purchasing a M&P 9mm...stoked as all hell for this even to happen. It's been awhile since I've gone out and shot weapons.

I got my first M&P9 in a trade for a Taurus pt92. Straight across. Couldn't pass up the oppurtunity to try out the M&P series. Since then I have the full size M&P9, M&P9c, and M&P 22. Love these pistols. I've owned Glock, Beretta, Taurus, Springfield and none of them are better IMO than the M&P series.

S&W choice

I bought my new M&P9 last week after a long examination of what USA made pistols were available. I was looking for a 45 because I already have one and I dont want to have to buy another caliber of ammo. Well eventually I decided on a 9mm because of the high capacity that might go away some day again. I went to the store to get a XD when I noticed it was made in Croatia? Oh well Im a S&W man any way Ill take the M&P9. Very happy with the fit and finish but I have not fired it. I have bought 1250 rounds of ammo for it but the full size is too big to carry so I will store it for a while and in the next 2 weeks or so Im going to buy a Walther PPS or a LC9. I own S&W stock, so I always go to them first.

I really like my Glock 23 but I like having a manual safety on my pistols. Old fashioned I know but that is my preference. My Smith M&P 9 came with a thumb safety that was quick to disengauge and some other features that I really liked such as a loaded chamber indicator, fully supported barrel, blackened stainless slide, and good sights.

The 9c is the best fit for my hands. I love my Sig 226's but I carry the M and P.

First post, S&W M&P 9

I have been a Glock fan for many years. I also carried a Sig for the same amount of time. That being said when I saw the M&P 9c mentioned in the Glock forum I had to try one.Loved it. Then I was at a gun show and found a used PD trade in, a M&P 45 for $430 and bought it. My local range had a M&P 40 with about 3000 rounds thru it, damn I got that too. Well last week I saw a VeeTach model in 9 and it had the best trigger of all. It found a new home. Why to 9? As an old dude the 9 does not hurt my hand like the 40 and I can shoot 2/3 boxes and still write the check to the range when I am finished.

Haha, very nice. Yea the .40 has got a lil kick to it. But that's why I like the .40, you can drop in a 9mm barrel if you want and pop some off at the range. I like the versatility =]

I was going for a 9mm for the longest time, but because you can convert if you'd like easily, I think im springing for the .40.

For me the M&P makes it effortless to shoot accurately and fast. Also the ergonomics are obviously #1 out of all polymer pistols.

I'm new to firearms and, w/ a few weeks of homework & shooting a couple of guns at the range, and after narrowing the selection down I chose the m&p9c for my first purchase for the simple deciding factor that I'm a southpaw and I wanted a gun that was made for me.

I didn't care for dealers trying to push the glock on me. Why should I have to compromise the way I handle/hold a firearm & have to use my index finger to release the slide & my middle finger to release the mag? S&W cared enough about their southpaw consumers to make a GREAT fully ambi compact & I was sold. I also take great joy in knowing my first gun is American made.

The only thing my m&p is missing is an ejector port that spits spent rounds out to the left instead of the right. If anyone knows a mod for that (that doesn't compromise the gun itself) I would greatly appreciate a holla.

I've been shooting handguns for 45 years and I might be wrong but I don't remember ever seeing a left handed ejection port. I am left eye dominat and used to shoot lefty and never had any problem shooting, just the controls. As you said the M&P is set up that way from the start. I hope you enjoy your M&P. I know I love all of mine. The only problem I have is you can't seem to have only 1. Except for a couple of guns I probably will never part with M&P's are pretty much all I have now.

I had a M&P full size in .40, unfortunately in Massachusetts, the attorney general, for safety reasons, has determined that we need to have a 40-50 lb. trigger pull on our version. I did have a trigger job done , but did not shoot it well and sold it. That being said, I could not open my safe without picking that gun up, the feel was just right, same as you get with a 1911.When I had mine they had not come out with the apex trigger kit yet. I have heard they make a big improvement,the M&P may soon be on my short list.

I like the M&P, but my SIG SP2022 has a much better trigger right out of the box. My SIG is my go to gun for carrying purposes now.
