Stopped in at my LGS last Sunday and saw a couple of Model 15's in the case. Place was really busy so I decided to come back later. Well, as always, "later" was this afternoon. I was fortunate they were still there. Price last week was $399.00. Price today was $329.00. I traded a "vintage" Winchester M97 and a Chinese double barrel plus some cash for the pair. They are State Patrol turn in's and show some use, the top one more so. Both lock up tight in battery with barely perceptable cylinder movement. They should be great shooters. Just had to share:)

A few months ago, I purchased a like-new Model 15 made in 1977. Nickel plated and 4" barrel. Square butt.
I have soft spot for Model 15s, having carried one in the Air Force for four years. Magnificent revolver.
I'll be sending my Model 15 off to a gunsmith soon, to have the action smoothed, forcing cone cut 11 degrees and chambers chamfered for easier use of speedloaders.
It will become my desert-roaming revolver (I live in the remote Utah desert).

You have a couple of very nice Model 15s there. Any idea when they were made, and to what State Police they were issued?

Thanks, SCSW says 1974 for number one and 1972 on number two, both are -3's. They came from Washington State Patrol although they aren't marked as such. Both had a paper label with an item number and the serial number recorded, wrapped around the grips. I gave my SIL a 98% Model 15 for Christmas last year and finally found a replacement, plus one.

Great find. It would have been hard for to leave the first time without at least putting one on layaway. I would have been afraid they would be gone when I came back.

This particular shop does a lot of business in hi-cap autos and plastic (bought a SIG Mosquito from them myself). The more "mature" Smith & Wesson's don't move quite as well. I was sweating it all week long, but there they were, now there not:) They have two 8.375 Model 14's still on the shelf. I have a six-inch Model 14 I paid off last month at a friends shop in Kelso, WA I have to yet to pick up, and an 8.375 inch Model 14 a friend is holding for me or I would have those two as well. I need help:0

Sweet find. Sounds like you have the disease. (HaHa) I came across a 15-3 snubby about 6 weeks a ago. It totally changed my mind about .38's and snubbies. So of course I'am "Jonesing" for a 4 & 6" Model 15 such as yours. Congratulations.

My local gun shop just got in a clean 15-2 in a 4" last week. It has a little holster wear at the muzzle. Locks up like a vault. Does not look to have been shot much at all.
Tag Price $429 which means about $375 Cash price. If I do not find someone who needs it for a house gun soon, I may have to put it on layaway myself. I am a little light on Blued Smith & Wessons at the moment anyway.
It would probably make a good companion in the safe for the 2" 15-4 I will be picking up this week.
