The local range/shop is retiring a S&W M&P .45 acp that has been a rental. The gun has "less than 10,000 rounds through it". It seems to cycle fine and no evidence of frame cracks or other clearly evident issues is noted. Asking price is $400.

I am curious as to the expected life span of this model: seems like a good price but I don't want to buy something that is likely to fail in a few hundred rounds, or is about worn out.

Thanks!

Keep in mind that they probably bought it for around $395 new. A new one with that new gun smell would be only $550. At $10-15 per rental, they have probably made over $500 renting it.

Just some things to think about...........

Now with 100 rounds of ammo added in and 2-4 hours free range time, $400 would be a lot better sounding.

With 10k rounds I would expect that the recoil spring should be replaced, as well as throwing in new mags. I would expect the frame, slide, and barrel to be able to go far beyond that round count, however. Nevertheless, I would not consider it a great deal.

There's a new in box M&P 45 for sale on slickguns for $435 shipped if you pay by check. I wouldn't touch a gun that heavily used unless the price was close to the lower end of $300.

I got my 45c @ my local LGS for 489.00, plus a month of range time . You can get a better deal for a new one , rather than get a used one with 10k rounds thru it !

I should think it has been replaced at least twice already... but given the round count and the general abuse of a range gun it should be a reasonable request or reflected in the price.

I concur though, for an ex-rental around $325 is what I would offer and maybe take it at $350.
