This is an update to an old thread titled "Light Strikes"...

This weekend, my three-month old M&P 15-22 PC started suffering light strike problems, that is, roughly two in ten cartridges failed to fire, and those cartridges had just the faintest firing pin impression on them.

I immediately suspected the JP Enterprise "yellow" springs I had installed to reduce the trigger pull, but when I opened everything up, I found about 1 mm of crud on the bolt face.

I cleaned the bolt face, the barrel face and the rest of the bolt. It works wonderfully again.

Enjoy!

Another reason for cleaning after every trip to the range. If the round isn't seated against the face of the bolt the pin doesn't strike as hard and will cause that.

Hey there Dave, was just reading your post and would like to say I was also experiencing some "light strikes" or "missfires" last week at the range. Even though my 15-22 is cleaned after every trip to the range, I also suspected the JP yellow springs but I came to the conclusion that it could have possibly been the ammo I was using (bulk Winchester 36gr. CPHP) from Wally World. So this week when I go back to the range I'll be trying some different ammo and see what happens.:D
