Live Round Stuck Inside M&P 22 - Help

Safest way to dispose of it is to attempt to fire it a 2nd time, then if it doesn't fire, use a pair of pliers (grab and wiggle back and forth, it's really easy on a .22) to remove the projectile from the casing and dump the powder.

The plier idea is one of those things that sounds like it would be simple and would work out fine, but it's not something I'm going to attempt, even with a 22.

I hadn't thought of it, but burying it in the backyard doesn't sound like a bad idea, especially if you make sure to bury it in a place where it's not likely to be dug up during the next gardening project.

I like the idea of trying to fire it again. Take it to the range to try to fire it. If it still doesn't fire ask the guys at the range to dispose of it.

I do it all the time with pliers. The pliers are only used on the bullet, you hold the case with your hand. It's also the best recommended way to pull a .22 bullet from its case. (Unless you have a spent 5.56 case, then you can use that instead of pliers)

Check out this video from 22plinkster on YouTube. It demonstrates how to remove the bullet from the case: A SAFE WAY TO DRY-FIRE YOUR 22LRS. - YouTube
