Looking for a 45.

As far as 3rd gens go, I really like my 4516 ND, and my 4566. The 4516 is tucked in my waistband right now riding in a Sticky holster. I'll carry the 4566 when I can wear a jacket.

The 45 I keep in the night stand is however, a 14 round capacity 45 Turkish made pistol that shoots like a dream. Mine is blued (or black), but they are available in stainless too. The stainless photo is a web picture.

The Sar K2's are awfully big & heavy to carry without a heavy belt & maybe suspenders. But it makes a heck of a "Bump in the night" gun with the TRL-HL light mounted.

Of course I also enjoy shooting my compact RIA and the 625 45 acps. I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite shooter, but the 4516 is certainly easy to carry all day long. The K2 will run all night long, with 5 mags total, I have 70 rounds at my disposal.

I have a 745 with 3 or 4 mags. No box. Clean and shoots good. This was made in the late 80's. Not the anniversary edition.

Not sure how small you want to go for carry, but for home defense maybe an FNX45.. 15+1 rounds... it's a beast.

Hammer-fired with full ambi controls with a decocker/safety that allows cocked and locked SA or decocked DA. Factory optic-ready with excellent night sights that co-witness a Venom red dot. Rail for WML...My favorite 45. Home D, Ohh yeah!

As a former Sig Armorer (now retired) for my old agency, I would strongly recommend the Sig Sauer P220 DA/SA. For personal/home defense, the P220 is a dependable classic. I found them to be accurate and soft shooting with 230 gr. JHP defensive rounds. Virtually all of my semi-autos are Sig classics. They've never let me down. You might say I'm slightly biased.

220s are great.....................

Back in the late 80s I switched from 1911s ( had gone through several over the prior 10 years... full size, commander, combat commander even a Goldcup.) to a W Ger. 220....later added a 245 for concealed carry........ that 220 will shoot cloverleafs at 50 ft.

Bought a "Earnest Langdon" model all steel 220 with rail to use in IDPA..... EL worked for Sig for a few years. About that time the boys came along and day trips around the state to shoot were put on hold.....for 2 decades... to be replaced by Soccer matches!

The EL 220 is still new in box......... have considered adding a light and making it my ultimate house gun!

I'm a firm believer that you get what cha pay for...

that 220 is a shtf , running out the door and ya need to take a .45 , kinda gun. (plus a bag full of mags)

Plenty of .45 options. I agree with the Sig 220 crowd (unless you're looking for more capacity). My 220 makes me look like a good shooter.

I totally agree!!!!

I like the stippling job on your FNX..looks great, and I like the raspy factory grip. Either way, it's an awesome bottom feeder that shoots like a dream. Never had any feed or FTF issues. Works great with the FF3.
It's too bad that people snub their noses at it because it's part 'plastic', or that it has the word "Tactical" stamped on it.

I prefer the black, but got this NIB FDE for cheap...

Then there is always the Classic Beretta Cougar 8045F.

The Beretta 8045. Flawless operation, one of the easiest weapons to field strip. Very accurate and if you look hard one can still find a new one.

Sounds like you decided on the M&P 45. Let us know how you like it once you get it.

I've been tempted to try one out too but I guess I'm stuck on old school.

My last 45 find is this 4553TSW pre-rail & between it, & my other DAO 3rd Gens, I've become more fond of them (DAOs) than I thought I would.

They just seem to appeal to me as good CC options.

The Governor is of course my favorite 45 but may not fit every need. Still it's so much fun at the range.
