The GREAT MIDWEST!
Hey guys, Its been a while since I posted.

I am wanting to load and test some +P and +P+ 38 Special Loads for my S&W Performance Center M&P R8 357 Magnum.

I have some Berrys jacketed 158 JHP, and various 38 Special brass. Most of it is Winchester. Various powders. Unique, Bluedot, 2400, Clays, HS6.

Do you have a favorite Load?

thanks,

My "warm" load is 5.7 grains of Unique and a 158 grain SWC. Don't put it in any older guns as they may loosen up.

Yes, I have some favorite loads. None with the powders you mention though.

Do a search on SR4756 on this forum and you may find all of the information you can handle!

4.6gr of tightgroup and a 140gr sierra JHC over a CCI 500 primer in a federal +P case

My favorite and most acccurate load is a 180 grain bullet behind 5 grains of Unique. In my 686 it will print into 1/2 inch at 25 yards off the bench.

For Blue Dot I like 7 1/2 grains and a 158 grain LRN bullet. A little hot but one of the clubs I shoot at set's their steel targets heavy. With this load I've never had to hit steel twice to make it go down.

I've developed a very good and accurate .38 Special +P round using HS-6. It's a true +P load so no one should use this data for rounds being used in an older .38 Special not rated for +P. In your .357 Magnum they will be just fine. I'm impressed with the numbers this load gave me. Also, at those pressures HS-6 is extremely clean.
