Ok I am a big guy and I am new to concealed carry and I am personally finding it difficult to find a concealed carry holster that well ..... Conceals well I am used to carrying knives and other assorted weapons concealed but I can't seem to find a good way to conceal a handgun using anything other than an ankle holster any suggestions would be greatly appreciated fyi I am trying to conceal a sigma with stingray laser mounted on the rail

Are you set on the Sigma being your carry handgun? You may want to try out some other options. In my opinion J frames are very concealable. Of course there's always tiny options like a P3AT or an LCP.

Concealing is pretty easy for me. I can carry practically anything in an inside the waste band holster at the 1:00 position. My body type makes this type of carry work well for me.... a narrow waist and bigger shoulders/chest. My shirts hang loosely around my waist. I can even carry my 3 inch .44 mag in this position.

I carry my Glock 27 and M&P40c (the two that are probably closest in size to your Sigma) in this position.

No I am not dead set on carrying the sigma fact is I carry two other guns as well with no concealment problems for some reason I just cant seem to hide this thing unless its down on my ankle. As for why carry the sigma Ive just been messin with it down at the range a bit more than usual and wanted to carry it a little more often than I do right now but if I cant find a good way to conceal it that idea is out of the picture

Sigma are a decent mid size auto. That's larger than most people carry on their ankles. I'd take the laser off the rail personally, since it will limit you greatly in holsters. My Sigma fits fine in a holster made for one or another model of XD. Conventional wisdom for carry of a mid size auto is either IWB or OWB with a cover garment using a good belt. Big guys can often get by with shoulder rigs though.

I am a big guy also and IWB is not for me. I pocket carry either a J-frame snjubby or a FEG PA-63. Both conceal very well and are not uncomfortable in my pocket.

Just a thought, but you might look at an Uncle Mike's belly band and
holster set-up. You can wear it under a shirt, and as tight or as loose as you like. The elastic-only bands get a little irritating with that
constant pressure. You can pick which height and orientation you like
for total concealment. The only drawback is access.

6'4" here, 230 lbs. I carry my SW40VE in an Uncle Mikes IWB soft holster at either 4 or 2:00. I wear a tucked in ashirt and usually a tshirt that is at least a size larger than usual, sometimes 2x since what one manufacturer says is a 2x is another one's xl. I have a khaki photographers vest that I sometimes wear over that, or an old BDU uniform shirt with no sleeves if I am just knocking around. Either of these is good enough to cover if I want to go with one of my OWB holsters, either a Don Hume J.I. T. slide or a pancake style cordura holster.

I also took the magazine that I use and rounded the front end of it, that unneeded square front seemed to print more than any other part of it.

ANYONE can carry a 642 in a pocket holster, no matter what your size or shape...........

Nothing wrong with an ankle holster...my dad used one for 50 years...and I do too...if you feel the need to be closer to your gun, you can always move it to your pocket...

I'll go further to say that i am a really big guy and have no problem IWB with my M&P40c. The trick was to experiment and find the perfect place, which is about 3:30 for me (the "love handle" actually helps hide it :o). I'm considering trying an OWB rig just to see how well I can pull it off.

Next was wardrobe. I found shirts that hide it well and bought several in different colors and designs. As a large man, untucked shirts work in my favor considerably since they hide more than just the gun, it's almost expected of me. Busy prints, heavier fabrics, and darker colors work great. Strangely, so does grey.

Also, keep in mind that you are much more critical of that print than anyone else will be.

I personally think a Sigma is too big for an ankle gun but that is my personal opinion. I carry a sigma sometimes, I place it inside my pants, left side but close to the forward part of my tummy. I find it too big to carry inside on the right in a holster. Sometimes, If its cool, I will wear a shoulder holster, which also works with overseized shirts....If I have on a big shirt, I may even put it in the back pocket of my jeans. and last another favorite spot is the small of my back. Fits good there. I am just not one to carry the same way all the time..depends on how Im dressed and where I am going.

+1 on the OWB Pancake Holster (Lobo Gun Leather, in my case). It hides a j-frame under a loose-fitting t-shirt or polo shirt. It seems to work best if the shirt has stripes or some kind of print to mask the little bump of the boot grip. It *feels* really apparent/obvious, but it's not.

First and foremost, your gun belt and holster have to be matched for size (width). You can't carry a gun on a Wallyworld $7.98 belt. Also, avoid nylon holsters, they aren't stiff enough to support the weight of the weapon. It may take a bit of fiddling to find the best spot for it, somewhere between 3:30 and 4:00 work for most. There's a hollow behind the hip (for most of us) that the piece tucks into.

Secondly, you have to dress around the gun.
