Looking for feedback from Kahr CM9 owners

I have been looking at purchasing a single stack 9mm. I have owned several different brands, but the one I am specifically asking about now is the Kahr CM9.

I would appreciate feedback from folks who have owned, or do own, a Kahr CM9.

i have one of those and never had a problem with any load including light reloads. the cm is a much better by than the pm model which is the same gun except for a machined slide stop and poly rifled barrel , and the cm is a couple of hundred of dollars cheaper.

I had a CM 9. It functioned flawlessly with any jacketed bullet load I fed it and was remarkably accurate for such a little pistol. Unfortunately, I bought it with the goal of having a cast bullet shooter. It was not destined to be. The chamber was too tight to accept a cast bullet fat enough to prevent leading. I sold it to a local LEO who loves it.

Obviously, it depends on what you want it for. I consider it the best 9mm pocket gun out there (that's what I do - I pocket carry). It's a whole lot cheaper than the PM9 (which in MA must have a thumb safety) and I don't see where it loses anything. They are extremely hard to come by in my state due to our silly "lists"... and that despite the fact that they are made here. For the most part, they can only be bought used F-T-F.

That said, my 9mm pocket carry of choice is still one of my Ruger LC9s pistols. It's a Massachusetts thing. The "rare in MA" CM9 is simply too valuable here and too hard to replace or even have repaired... while if anything goes wrong with one of my Rugers, I know it will be taken care of super-pronto. Not necessarily so with the CM9.

My experience with a Kahr CM9 is probably close to a 1000 rounds. I recall 2-3 problems with feeding or ejecting in the first 100 rounds but no problems since. I've only use jacketed ammo, including hollow points. Trigger pull is long (but smooth) like a double action revolver. I like the simple but effective sights. It shoots more accurately than I expected. It carries well in the waistband or pocket (with holster). The only downside is it's a bit harder to rack the slide than other pistols of its genre. I can recommend it.

My experience is with the CW and PM. Both functioned as should. My problem with them was the grip size

have around 500 rounds through mine without any issues, fits in my front pocket nicely and I really think it has the smoothest trigger for a double action only.

Same here. Nary a problem. Mine has had many Speer Gold Dot +p Short Barrel rounds fired through it without any ill effects or feeding problems. I did replace the sights with Dawson Precision sights and called it all good. I like my Shield, but I love my CM9.....

My warm weather EDC is a PM9, and usually an XDs .45 in colder months. If I could only have one I would be completely satisfied carrying the PM9 year round. My PM9 has been 100% reliable after the break-in period and I'm in the camp of those that love the smooth and predictable DAO Kahr trigger.

I bought the XDs as a novelty when it came out and I have no intention of parting ways with it. However, I find myself in a position to be quite thankful that I have no desire to see if the grass is greener on the other side of the PM9 (Shield, P938, LC9, ect., ect.). I also have a CW9 and it has been 100% reliable as well. If I were to do anything over I'd probably have saved the $ and gotten the CM9 over the PM9 but when I bought the PM9 the CM line did not exist.

Sig has a nice single stack nine in the P239. They also have remade the P225, but it is extremely pricey. You didn't specifically mention using the gun as a CCW, so I'll throw in my two cents. I bought an older (1980) Sig P6. It was a German police turn-in. It's an early P225. Same gun. Alloy frame, steel slide. I gave up the 239 in favor of it. It's a little larger and heavier, but feels and shoots great. It is definitely larger and heavier than a CM9. The prices aren't bad, and they were maintained meticulously. Check out the Kahr forum. You'll get a lot of opinions and anecdotal reports on the pistol.

I could have written 'THE PILGRIM's' post word for word. I have one that is a pleasure to carry and shoot accurately. It has a great very smooth trigger. But, the darn magazines are a fight to get that 6th round into. I don't carry it regularly because of that. I have strong hands and yet those buggers are worrying me down. I need to take the magazines apart and see if there is anything that I can do about that problem.

I like this pocket carry handgun very much. When I find my 'round-to-it' I'm going to put XS Systems small white dot front sight on it. ....

Speaking of small 9mm -
I have thought for a while that a small round - 9x19 should fired in a small gun.
What was that? You saw it's a fairly high pressure round.
Ok, let's shoot it in a strong small gun.
So pot metal Sat. nite specials need not apply.
My first adventure along this line of thinking was the DETONICS Pocket 9.
Small, stainless, quality build.
What's not to like?
It fires open breech.
It was a short doubled recoil spring that would frustrate Arnold.
Not much to hold on to, and really hard to rack.
I actually owned two.
I'm not known to give up easy.
But I did finally give in to reality.
The Browning style Kahr lock up is mo better, guarantee!

I have had my CM9 for several years and it is one of two pistols that I EDC. The CM9 is great if you want to pocket carry and still carry a 9mm. Its size, weight, and price make it very hard beat as a pocket 9mm. There are some like the DB9, KelTec, Rohrbaugh9, etc that might be as easy to carry but price, reliability might not be as competitive.
Due to its grip size I do find that it has a quite the recoil but manageable (I cannot imagine what the CM40 is like given they are basically the same size.) As such, its recoil spring is stiff and hard to rack in the beginning. When I first got it a racked the slide 200 times and then left the slide locked back overnight to help with that.
Because of the offset feed ramp I have read that some CM9s have had trouble with failure to feeds. I think the company has recently redesigned the mag followers to help this. Mine have been reliable with both FMJ and JHP ammo.

I had the cm9 and the cw9 both well made very hard to rack for some the trigger is very smooth but very long cm9 pocket carries very nice the only FTF I ever had was with aluminum casing's in the cw9 can't remember any in the cm9 I sold both of mine due to the long trigger pull carry a shield 9 now not sure I like the trigger any better it definitely is not as smooth.But I did want a manual safety .

CM9 is my daily pocket carry. Nothing to add to all of the good comments above. Perfect for me. Belt, carry I go larger= CW 9. This a defensive pistol with sights I like, and a longer smooth trigger pull which I like. Others may feel differently.

CM 40 owner that loves the accuracy and portability. I have no problems handling factory 165 gr 40's at a rapid rate. Mine shoots cast sized to .401 while my Smith takes .402. Expect a tight barrel and if you cast size accordingly.

I had a CM9 for a while and it worked flawlessly. I have fairly large hands and ended up selling it and going with the slightly larger CW9. 600 rounds through it with no failures of any kind. Light, narrow, great trigger and a great value. Love it!

CW9 is a great purchase. Load with some good defensive 9mm, a spare mg and you should be good. Great trigger. I like the setup for carry. 300 to 350 , it is a smart buy.

I've owned several Kahr guns. I never had any problems either. But I prefer a Glock 43 for a small 9MM.
