Looking for mild 357 factory loads (like 38 +P) to carry in my little J frame. Do NOT want to carry 38's in it. Thanks.

Are they on the 38 +P level ?

They are loaded a little hotter than the +P 38s, after all they do call themselves 357 Magnum. However, they are loaded nowhere near the level of a full power 357 Magnum cartridge. The difference between the Short Barrel load and a normal 357 Magnum load will be noticeable.

Those Speer Short Barrel .357 Magnum rounds are very light. I have a feeling they were developed for the S&W Aitlite revolvers. They generate only ~1,000 fps as opposed to the .38 Special +P Short Barrel ammo which develops ~860 fps using the same 135gr Gold Dot bullet.

I think the Blazer .357 mag load is a bit over 1200 fps with a 158 grain bullet. They are great in a K-frame for recoil management and longevity, and they are cheap. Since ammo got expensive they are about the only .357 rounds that I buy.

at one time Remington had a 125 grain load at 1,250 fps or so when the high velocity load was 1,450 fps. I don't know if the still make this load.

It is out of production. The 125 gr. Golden Sabre is Remington's current managed recoil offering.
