I just finished installing a Power Custom hammer nose* in my 64-5 and while putting things back together, the hammer pivot post fell out. Now y'all learned me that I shouldn't have full tension on the hammer spring when the side plate is off. So, what I've done is have just enough tension to keep the spring in place until the sideplate's on.

It appears that the post/pin is a light (very light) press fit into the frame. Possibly with some staking with a hollow circular punch. What I did was degrease the hole and post, coat the bores and post with red loc-tite and tap it into place. The side plate's back on to provide alignment while the loc-tite sets up.

Anything I should have done different? Or do if it gets loose again?

*Be very, very careful with the microscopic proprietary spring. It's not available as a separate part and is darn near invisible. I dropped an email to Brownells about maybe having 3 packs or 6 packs of the cotton picking things available. They've gotta be available from somewhere.

Thanks. That's what I'm hoping. First loose post I've seen in 50+ years of shooting.
