Finally got my hands on one and took it to the range and super smooth and accurate. However this morning I noticed that the trigger is really loose before the trigger break whether cocked, or uncocked. I assume this is not normal. Is anyone else having the same problem? I didn’t notice this yesterday probably because of the excitement of new gun day. It is loose moving forward and back like dangling loose

Have you compared it to a Winchester or Marlin? Triggers in those classic models are floppy too. They never bothered me.
What you are observing may be normal.

I know the new Marlin 1894 has that same trigger flop as do other lever action rifles.

A place by the name of Ranger Point Precision sells a replacement trigger for the Marlin that is designed to do away with that trigger flop and reduce trigger pull rate.

They don't list anything for the new S&W but I wouldn't be surprised if that doesn't change in the future.
