Loretta "Hot Lips Hollihan" Swit

She may have appeared in other roles than hotlips in the TV series, but I don’t remember her in any. Sally Kellerman was the movie hotlips. I don’t remember ever seeing her in any other role either.
Kellerman was in the original Star Trek pilot "The Cage", later "The Menagerie" and two episodes of 'The Outer Limits" plus a LOT of TV and movies. But those are the only other times I recognized her.

Loretta Switt was constantly working since 1970, but I don't remember a thing she was in outside of "M.A.S.H".

As a latchkey kid growing up in the 80’s MASH was always on one of the four channels our rabbit ears actually picked up. They were in a sense my afternoon family. I still watch MASH, as they are still family to me, even after the rest of my family has gone.

I'm almost positive that Loretta Swit was my first crush.

NGL over time I came to LOATHE MASH.

All 11 seasons are available on Hulu and I sat through them. I never saw a North Korean or Chinese Soldier who wasn't portrayed as a good guy and Sun Tek Oh played almost all of them.

All South Korean and Regular Army Officers who weren't the main characters were evil or stupid.

America was always portrayed as The Invader of Korea.

I read somewhere that Richard Hooker absolutely detested the television series

Besides being very successful in show biz, she seems like she was a pretty decent person from what I read. She supported veterans and worked to show the image of military nurses as the professionals that they are. As someone who spent some time in a military hospital, I appreciate all of the medical folks. In my experience they don't coddle, but give basic great treatment and are patriots.
