Losing interest in my 15-22

I have the same 2 weapons. Both are used for home defense so max shooting range is 10 yards on the Ruger, 25 yards on the 15-22. Both have red dot scopes which help a lot. Did the yellow spring job on the 15-22, best $10 investment I made. Put a Volquartsen trigger in the Ruger, best $110 invesrment there. That said, i would not sell either one. Different shooting experiences with both. The only bad part about the 15-22 is I blast thru ammo 2.5 times faster due to the 25 versus 10 bullet mags.

I was able to hit the range today for the first time in about 6 weeks. I put a few hundred through my GSG 1911-22, a few hundred through my new GSG-922 and was in a crunch for time- only put 50 through my 15-22. I had a blast shooting my GSG's- and I felt guilty with my 15-22. But from 50 yards, I punched the center out of my target with the rifle. I didn't need a ton of time with the rifle for us both to know that we are a perfect match :) .

Yeah, I know. That's why you have to take women, and guns, out for a test-drive before you sign the dotted line. You can't just rush into things.

Hey, there are women here, too! And, to chime in on our behalves, you Don Juans are fooling yourselves if you don't think WE do ourselves some "test driving", too! :)

Hmm, I guess I could mount the scope on the Ruger. Nah, that might look a little funny.

Nah, I think a scope on a Mark III looks good. Here's mine and it is a fun gun to shoot. Very accurate too.

My High Standard Trophy Supramatic is 50 years old and STILL puts 10 rounds in a 1 inch circle at 25 yards, from a machine rest. That's after probably 50k through it over the five decades.

I'll see your Trophy Supramatic and raise you a Vented Ribbed,Weighted 7" Olimpic Grade Victor that's a good 30-35+ years old and shoots as good as it did new. :o Those High Standards were hard to beat. Brought me home a couple trophy's.

I hear you. The trigger on mine breaks at 14 ounces. :)

It was originally the personal firearm of a member of the Ft. Benning Army Marksmanship Unit.

I gave my MKII Match to my son. Disassembly is easy; It's putting it back together that's a PITB!
No kidding! Not that I would use it for personal defense, but when I reassemble my 22/45 I always wonder if it will shoot. I so infrequently disassemble it that when it goes to the range I always carry it in its case, so I have the instructions in case I flubbed the last reassembly.

After I put 1,000 rounds through my 22/45 MKIII, it almost falls apart in my hands like melted butter and is almost as easy to take apart as my 15-22. I might post a video of the procedure on Youtube to make other 22/45 MKIII owners jealous. :-)

I was married for 38 years to the same woman so I'm true-blue in human relationships but a fickle-pickle when it comes to my guns. Like others have said, someday's a special gun is what it takes to scratch your itch and that's why I have two 1911's (in 3 different calibers), a Yorkshire terrier of a .380 carry pistol, two revolvers (.22LR and WinMag), a shotgun and three .22 caliber rifles, one of which is the 15-22. The price of .45 ACP being what it is, 9 MM and .22 TCM not much better (don't ask about .380!); the double-deuces get used a lot anymore and the 15-22 the most. While there are some in this fraternity that have only the S&W baby-black rifle in their arsenal, most of us are multi-gunned (I can almost hear the Liberals fainting!) just because we like the variety and freedom of choice (oops, more Lefties swooning away in shock). Enjoy your little Ruger and especially have fun stripping it down for cleaning while we 15-22 types continue to pop away with big grins on our faces!

I love my 22/45 but it's not quite as forgiving of my caffeine and nicotine addicted hands... Still a ton of fun, but in any given 100 round sample size I'm definitely more accurate w/ my 15-22 on most days. The few times I've shot the pistol from a rest I have been incredibly pleased w/ how consistent it is however. It's seemed a little more predictable than the 15-22 at 25 and 50 yards (never player w/ the Ruger any further out than that).

I'd never get rid of either at this point however, both are incredibly fun to shoot in their own unique ways.

I've had very little trouble w/ assembly and disassembly of the Mk III after the first 10 times or so. Seems like things just needed to get loosened up a bit. Breaking it down and putting it together takes maybe an extra 30 seconds over my Glock at this point. I definitely spent many hours cursing the thing until it got broken in and I got used to the process though.
